What to do if you have severe uterine erosion?

Uterine erosion refers to cervical erosion, a disease that also troubles many women. Patients with cervical erosion will experience increased vaginal discharge, abnormal vaginal discharge, fishy odor, yellow pus in vaginal discharge, lower abdominal pain, and may also experience vaginal bleeding. And the severity is different, and the treatment methods are also different. Severe cervical erosion is the most serious case. So how should severe cervical erosion be treated?

The cervix is part of the uterus, which is exposed at the top of the female vagina. Unhygienic sexual intercourse and inappropriate vaginal medication can affect the health of the cervix.

However, precisely because of the particularity of its anatomical structure, gynecologists can observe it with the naked eye during gynecological examinations, and can obtain exfoliated cells and living tissue for biopsy to clarify the diagnosis. The part where the external cervical opening connects to the vaginal wall is called the cervicovaginal part, which is covered with squamous epithelium, also known as the cervical epithelium.

The "smooth part" is the part of the cervical canal that connects to the endometrium of the uterine cavity and is covered with columnar epithelium, which is commonly known as the "erosion area." But it only looks like erosion to the naked eye, and is not true erosion caused by epithelial shedding and ulcer formation.

At present, Western countries have abandoned the term "cervical erosion" and replaced it with "cervical columnar epithelium ectopia". The squamocolumnar junction is formed at the junction of the squamous epithelium and the columnar epithelium. This junction area may undergo periodic changes with age and hormones. This area is also a high-incidence site for cervical cancer. Normally, columnar epithelium is located inside the cervical canal and cannot be seen with the naked eye. Under the action of estrogen, the volume of the cervix increases rapidly, exposing the cervical columnar epithelium.

At the external opening of the cervix, it appears red, rough and "erosive". It can be seen from this that the size of the "erosion" area does not represent the severity of the inflammation. These "erosions" are just normal "stress" reactions of the cervical epithelium when hormones surge in the body. For women of childbearing age, blind and excessive treatment of "cervical erosion" is not recommended. It is recommended to have a gynecological examination every year, and one of the most important examinations is the cancer prevention screening of cervical exfoliated cells.

The above article introduces the treatment methods of cervical erosion. Severe cervical erosion usually requires surgical treatment. If it is delayed and not treated in time, cervical erosion is likely to become cancerous and induce cervical cancer and other cancer tumors that endanger women's health. Therefore, when you feel unwell, you need to take care of your body and receive treatment in time. Changes in leucorrhea are the most typical symptom.
