At what age do women reach menopause?

Many women sometimes have mood swings, and sometimes people around them will ask if they have reached menopause. Maybe this is a joke, but I believe that many women don’t know at what age menopause will begin. Here, I will popularize this knowledge to everyone, how to judge whether you have really entered menopause.

Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis

If women over 40 only have menstrual periods and their menstrual flow gradually decreases until menopause, it should actually be considered a normal physiological phenomenon and can be said to be a good thing. However, since people's living standards have improved a lot now, some people experience menopause too late before the age of 40 or after the age of 55. This is not a good phenomenon and should be treated as soon as possible.

Western medicine advice:

① After the age of 40, if women experience menstrual disorders or feel uncomfortable, it is best to see a doctor for examination.

② For women whose menstruation begins to decrease or who have just entered menopause, it does not mean that the ovaries have stopped ovulating, so contraception is still important and must not be ignored.

③ Before menopause, women are prone to hot flashes and irritability, so they should also pay attention to self-regulation in this regard.

Statistics from traditional Chinese medicine show that the menopausal age of most Chinese women is between 45 and 55 years old, and the average age of menopause is around 49.5 years old. If someone in this age group experiences short menstrual periods or small amounts of menstruation, it is a normal physiological reaction, but it is strictly based on age considerations. Of course, there is a possibility that menstrual disorders may occur earlier than menopause, but this must be determined through diagnosis and treatment by a specialist and corresponding examinations and tests.

TCM advice:

① It is normal for women between the ages of 45 and 55 to have light menstrual flow but regular cycles and no other discomfort. This can be simply judged as the onset of menopause.

② When women reach menopause, if they experience hot flashes, sweating, dizziness, fatigue and other discomforts, they should go to the hospital to consult or receive treatment from a gynecologist in time.

The above analysis is conducted from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, because traditional Chinese medicine's three methods of observation, listening, questioning and palpation are very accurate. By comparing the above physical phenomena of menopause, we can make a preliminary judgment ourselves. When entering menopause, the most important thing is to regulate our emotions and exercise regularly to enhance our body's resistance.
