What causes yellow vaginal discharge?

3. Fungal vaginitis: The leucorrhea is yellowish-white, most of the time it is sticky, sometimes it can be thin, typically milky white, like bean dregs, or like curd-like white flakes or lumps, most of which are caused by fungal infection.

4. Bacterial vaginitis: The leucorrhea is yellow, bloody, serous or viscous, sometimes mixed with small rotten meat-like substances. It is mostly caused by infection with amoeba.

5. Fallopian tube cancer: When suffering from fallopian tube cancer, due to the tumor stimulating the fallopian tube epithelium to exude fluid and the necrosis of the diseased tissue, the leucorrhea is mostly intermittent, clear, yellow-red liquid, flowing out in bursts continuously.

2. Symptoms of yellow leucorrhea

1. The leucorrhea is milky white or light yellow, purulent, large in amount, and has a foul odor, often accompanied by abdominal pain. It is generally caused by chronic cervicitis or endocervicitis.

2. The leucorrhea is yellow or yellow-green, thin and foamy, or like rice water, grayish white, and has a foul odor. It is mostly caused by Trichomonas vaginalis.

Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell; its secretion amount and texture are affected by the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body, and vary periodically with the menstrual cycle, with varying amounts, textures and thicknesses. Generally, the amount of leucorrhea is less after the menstrual period; before ovulation, due to the increase in estrogen levels in the body, the epithelial cells of the cervical glands are stimulated to proliferate, the secretion of cervical mucus increases, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus increases, which can absorb more water, causing the leucorrhea to increase during ovulation, and the texture is thin, clear in color, and looks like egg white, which can be stretched into long threads; after ovulation, estrogen levels gradually decrease, progesterone levels increase, the secretion of cervical mucus is inhibited, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus also decreases, making the leucorrhea at this time thick, milky white, with poor ductility, and easy to break when drawn. In addition, there are also some physiological phenomena such as pregnancy and oral contraceptives, which can cause an increase in vaginal discharge. The cause is also related to changes in estrogen and progesterone levels in the body.

4. Leucorrhea treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment for yellow leucorrhea.

Spleen deficiency type: The patient has white vaginal discharge, which is continuous and dripping, sallow complexion, fatigue, cold limbs, loss of appetite, cold lower abdomen, abdominal distension and loose stools, pale red tongue, greasy white tongue coating, and slow and weak pulse. Guiran moxa cupping can be used for moxibustion on acupoints such as Daimai, Sanyinjiao, Zusanli, Pishu, and Yinbai. Warm moxibustion on the Dai Meridian can replenish Qi and consolidate the body, regulate the Ren and Du meridians; Sanyinjiao calms the liver, strengthens the spleen and eliminates dampness, nourishes the kidney and strengthens the essence; Zusanli regulates the spleen and stomach, is beneficial to the generation of Qi and blood, strengthens the physical fitness, and promotes recovery; Pishu invigorates the Zhongyang, strengthens the spleen to help raise the clear and lower the turbid, and transport and transform water and dampness; Yinbai nourishes the spleen, replenishes Qi and retains blood. You can apply warm moxibustion on the Daimai, Sanyinjiao, Guanyuan, Shenshu, Ci Liao and other acupoints. Daimai and Sanyinjiao nourish the kidney and strengthen the spleen, replenish qi and consolidate the body; Guanyuan and Shenshu can be used together to strengthen the kidney and nourish the essence, consolidate and stop leukorrhea; Ci Liao can dredge the lower burner, clear away stagnant heat, and replenish deficiency. All the acupoints are used together to achieve the effect of nourishing yin and kidney, replenishing essence and consolidating the body. During treatment, after the moxibustion cup is lit, it is fixed on the corresponding acupoint and moxibustion is performed once a day.
