Why do women develop vaginal polyps? Vaginal polyps, also called cervical cysts, are generally not easy for women to find themselves, but they can cause great harm to women. So do you know why women develop vaginal polyps?

1. Why do women develop vaginal polyps?

Cervical cyst is a major manifestation of chronic cervicitis. There is a kind of cyst whose root is attached to the cervical opening or cervical canal. It is caused by partial hyperplasia of the cervical mucosa under the stimulation of inflammation and bulging outward from the external opening of the cervix. The surface of the cyst is covered by a layer of columnar epithelial cells with cervical gland ducts. The interstitial space is rich in capillaries and loose connective tissue, accompanied by inflammatory cell infiltration. This type of cyst can be multifocal and may be multiple. It is usually small in size, less than 1 cm in diameter, tongue-shaped, bright red in color, soft and brittle in texture, easy to bleed, and has a long and thin pedicle. Another type of cervical cyst occurs inside the cervical vagina, with a surface covered by stratified squamous epithelium and fibrous connective tissue between the tissues. This type of cyst is superficial, protrudes toward the surface, has a wide base, is light red in color, and is tough in texture.

Generally, women with cervical cysts do not have any discomfort symptoms. Sometimes they have excessive vaginal discharge, or blood in the discharge, or bleeding during intercourse. If the above situation is found, the patient should go to the hospital for treatment. Cervical cysts in many patients are discovered during investigations or gynecological examinations for other diseases.

2. Diagnosis of vaginal wall polyps

The diagnosis can be made based on the patient's surgical history, clinical manifestations of vaginal bleeding, gynecological examination and histopathological examination.

Examination of the vagina can reveal a mass-like lump or infiltrative lump located on the suture line at the top of the vagina, which is often the size of a millet grain and can cause a small amount of bleeding when touched. The vaginal walls become hard and narrow. This confirms that you have vaginal polyps.

3. Inspection and testing of vaginal wall polyps

Colposcopy: Examination or palpation with a vaginal speculum can reveal swelling, hardening, and narrowing of the vaginal wall.

Histopathological examination: For those with infiltrated skin or skin ulcers, tissue can be removed by forceps for puncture biopsy. For those with intact skin, needle aspiration biopsy or puncture biopsy can be performed, as well as excisional puncture biopsy or excisional puncture biopsy.

Others: routine blood test, secretion examination.

What are the harms of cervical cysts?

1. Female infertility: The formation and expansion of cervical cysts will affect the shape of the cervical opening, which is not conducive to the passage of male sperm, thus leading to the possibility of infertility.

2. Non-menstrual bleeding: Patients with cervical cysts may experience bleeding and abnormal secretions during sexual intercourse.

3. Recurrent disease: If only the cyst is removed, the inflammation of the cervix has not been eliminated and the pathogens are still lurking in the cervical tissue, so the disease may still recur. Therefore, after treating cervical cysts, cervical inflammation should also be treated to prevent the occurrence of cysts.

4. Possibility of lesions: Cyst tissue has capillaries, and generally lesion inspection is required after removal. If there is any deterioration, further treatment is required.

After a woman has a cervical cyst, she needs to receive effective treatment based on her symptoms. Surgery can be considered to completely remove the tissue, and then medication can be taken on the wound to promote blood circulation. The patient also needs to go to the hospital for follow-up visits as needed to prevent recurrence!

Common Problems in Preventing Uterine Polyps
