Girls' vomit is abnormal

Smell of vomit: There are many diseases that can cause vomiting, and many diseases can be judged based on the smell of vomit.

1. Sour and rancid smell: Food stays in the stomach for too long, ferments and spoils, and vomitus often has a special sour and rancid smell. Bacterial food poisoning and acute bacillary dysentery often cause fever, abdominal pain and vomiting before diarrhea. Cholecystitis, biliary ascariasis, cholelithiasis, appendicitis, and pancreatitis all cause vomiting to varying degrees, and the vomitus also has a rotten and sour smell. Patients with pyloric obstruction may also vomit up old food (food from the previous meal or one or two days ago).

2. Bloody smell: If the vomit is all blood, it means there is upper gastrointestinal bleeding. If the color is bright red or dark red, rupture of esophageal or gastric varicose veins should be considered; if the color is dark brown or soy sauce, it may be ulcer or tumor bleeding, or acute gastric mucosal bleeding; a small amount of light brown means little bleeding, or it may be caused by acidosis; if the severe vomiting caused by acute gastritis damages the mucosa, the vomitus may sometimes contain a small amount of blood.

3. Bile smell: Vomitus may be yellow or grass green. Patients with cholelithiasis may vomit bile when vomiting is severe; for patients with bile reflux gastritis due to pyloric dysfunction, vomiting bile is a prominent symptom; patients with duodenal congestion and intestinal obstruction may vomit bile repeatedly.

4. Fecal odor: Fecal juice in vomit often indicates obstruction below the duodenum, and is often accompanied by abdominal pain, bloating and constipation. Middle-aged and older patients have a special odor in their vomit, so be alert to malignant tumors in the stomach. Children vomiting fecal juice and having bloody stools indicates the presence of intussusception.

Many cases of vomiting may be caused by extra-gastrointestinal diseases, such as encephalitis, meningitis, intracranial tumors, hypertension, stroke, hepatitis, whooping cough, uremia, diabetes, ketoacidosis, etc. Young women may also experience vomiting during pregnancy, and people with neurosis may also experience neurotic vomiting.
