Causes of low estradiol during pregnancy

Causes of low estradiol during pregnancy

I just got pregnant, but the hospital found out that my estradiol level was low. Many pregnant women don’t know why their estradiol level is low during pregnancy. Some pregnant women don’t even know what estradiol is, let alone the dangers of not receiving treatment. I once heard a husband tell his pregnant wife in the hospital that low estradiol does not require treatment and will be fine after giving birth. Is this really true? Let me introduce it to you below, I hope you all can understand it.

1. What is estradiol?

Estradiol is a steroid hormone that is mainly secreted by ovarian follicles, corpus luteum and placenta during pregnancy. It is the most important and biologically active hormone among estrogens. Estradiol mainly promotes the transformation of the endometrium into the proliferative phase and promotes the development of female secondary sexual characteristics. Therefore, estradiol plays an important role in maintaining the growth of female reproductive organs, breasts, long bones and female sexual characteristics. Checking estradiol in blood and urine is of certain value in diagnosing endocrine and gynecological diseases such as precocious puberty and dysplasia.

2. The role of estradiol

It promotes the proliferation of endometrium, enhances the contraction of uterine smooth muscle, and promotes the development and proliferation of mammary ducts, but larger doses can inhibit the release of prolactin from the anterior pituitary, thereby reducing milk secretion. It has anti-androgen effect, lowers blood cholesterol, and increases calcium deposition in bones.

3. Causes of low estradiol

The estradiol level is lower than normal due to ovarian disease, infertility, irregular menstruation and other reasons. Causes of low estradiol include: Ovarian disease: absent or underdeveloped ovaries, primary ovarian failure, and ovarian cysts. Pituitary amenorrhea or infertility. Irregular menstruation: Irregular menstruation leads to endocrine disorders in the human body, causing the hormones in the human body to become unbalanced and fail to meet the standards required by the body. Others: hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, Cushing's syndrome, Addison's disease, malignant tumors, large-scale infections, renal insufficiency, focal lesions of the brain and pituitary gland, etc. can all reduce plasma estradiol. Therefore, low estradiol during pregnancy must be treated, preferably with diet therapy.

4. Dietary treatment for low estradiol

Black beans are a very good food for regulating estradiol. Black beans not only replenish the endometrium but also have the effect of beautifying the skin. People with low estradiol levels can use black beans to make soy milk, or they can make black bean and pork bone soup. If estradiol is low, you can also use 30g of angelica, 30g of astragalus, 65g of ginger, and 250g of mutton. The preparation method is: cut the mutton into pieces, cut the ginger into shreds, wrap the angelica and astragalus with gauze, put them into a clay pot together, add appropriate amount of water and stew until cooked. It is good to eat the meat and drink the soup or just drink the soup. Take it for more than 3 consecutive days in a month. If estradiol is low, you can use 30 grams of astragalus, 30 grams of wolfberry, and 1 white pigeon. The preparation method is to wash the squab, wrap the astragalus with cloth, put them in a stewing pot, add appropriate amount of water, stew them until cooked, add some salt, drink the soup and eat the meat. Stew once every two days and take 4 to 5 times in a month.

It can be seen from this that low estradiol levels during pregnancy must be treated and controlled. If it is not controlled, it may lead to fetal stillbirth or threatened abortion. It is best to take medication as required by the doctor. Only when the estradiol content is balanced can the baby develop and grow better, and you can welcome the fruition of your love and the continuation of your life.
