Why does vaginal discharge turn pink?

Why does vaginal discharge turn pink?

Women in life have to face the embarrassment of abnormal leucorrhea every day. Some women's leucorrhea has an odor, while some women's leucorrhea is large in amount and abnormal in color, which will affect the patient's life and work. Therefore, patients should pay attention to the color of their leucorrhea in their daily lives. It is common for leucorrhea to turn pink, so what happens when leucorrhea turns pink? In fact, if white turns pink, it may be due to an abnormality in the cervix. If the patient has bloody leucorrhea, it means that the patient has a gynecological disease and must be examined, diagnosed and treated. So what cervical diseases will cause abnormal leucorrhea in life?

Cervicitis

(1) Increased vaginal discharge: Increased vaginal discharge is the most common symptom of cervicitis, and sometimes even a definite symptom of gynecological inflammation. Increased and turbid leucorrhea with odor, pus or blood, as well as difficulty urinating, frequent urination, and urgency are symptoms of typical gynecological inflammation of cervicitis and cervical erosion.

(ii) Pain: Most people often experience pain in the lower abdomen or lumbosacral area. It may also occur in the upper abdomen, thighs and hip joints. The pain is more severe during menstruation, bowel movements or sexual intercourse.

Cervical erosion

When suffering from mild cervical erosion, patients generally have no obvious symptoms, and may only have a slight increase in vaginal discharge, which is often easily overlooked. Cervical erosion in many patients is discovered during screening or when they visit the doctor for other gynecological diseases. The most obvious symptom of patients with moderate and severe cervical erosion is increased vaginal discharge, which is yellow and sticky, or contains blood. A small number of patients may experience bleeding after sexual intercourse. Inflammatory leucorrhea can cause long-term irritation to the vulva and may also cause vulvar pruritus. In addition, since the cervical lymphatic system is directly connected to the paracervical connective tissue, inflammation can spread to the pelvic cavity through the lymphatic circulation, leading to pelvic connective tissue inflammation, and symptoms such as lumbar pain, and lower abdominal distension. In a small number of patients, infertility may also be caused by cervical erosion.

Increased leucorrhea Increased leucorrhea is the main symptom of cervical erosion, and sometimes even the only symptom. Due to the different pathogens, as well as the differences in the scope and degree of erosion, the properties of leucorrhea are also different. If the inflammatory infection is not obvious, the leucorrhea will mainly be transparent mucus; if the cervical erosion is accompanied by obvious inflammatory infection, the leucorrhea will be yellow, purulent and viscous. If the erosion area is small or the lesion is shallow, the amount of leucorrhea may be small. If the lesion is deep and covers a large area, the amount of leucorrhea will be large, and may occasionally contain a small amount of blood. Some patients may also complain of contact bleeding.

Cervical cyst

Regarding the symptoms of cervical cysts, since the symptoms of cervical cysts are not very obvious in the early stages, cervical cysts are a type of chronic cervicitis and generally have no obvious symptoms. The symptoms of cervical cysts are generally increased leucorrhea. Due to different pathogens, the color and amount of leucorrhea are also different. Leucorrhea may be sticky or purulent, sometimes with streaks of blood or a small amount of blood, and may also have contact bleeding. Symptoms of cervical cysts may also include frequent pain in the lower abdomen or lumbosacral area, pelvic pain or dysmenorrhea, which often worsens during menstruation, bowel movements or sexual intercourse. In addition, menstrual irregularities and infertility may occur.

The leucorrhea of the above cervical diseases will contain blood, which is similar to the symptoms of the patient's pink leucorrhea. Under normal circumstances, the leucorrhea is white and has no odor. As long as the patient finds that the leucorrhea is abnormal, he or she should go to a local regular hospital for examination. If there is blood in the leucorrhea, the symptoms will be more serious. Patients should observe the color of the leucorrhea and check it in time if any abnormal symptoms are found so that correct treatment can be carried out.
