Why is the period delayed by a week?

Why is the period delayed by a week?

First of all, the first reason for delayed menstruation may be pregnancy. If you have had unprotected sex before, it is recommended to take an early pregnancy test. If pregnancy is ruled out, it may be irregular menstruation. But don’t worry too much. Generally, if a woman’s menstruation is not delayed for a long time, as long as she pays attention to diet and controls her emotions, it will return to normal next month. If it is a long-term irregularity, it is recommended to take some medicine for regulation.

There are two main reasons for delayed menstruation. The first is pregnancy, and the second is irregular menstruation. If the menstruation is delayed for more than 7-10 days, it is best to go to the hospital for a detailed examination. The menstrual cycle is generally 28 to 30 days. It is still within the normal range if it is advanced or delayed by about 7 days. The length of the cycle varies from person to person. But if it exceeds this time, women with normal menstruation will definitely worry.

There are four situations:

1. Pregnancy After 7 days of delayed menstruation, you can use the "Early Pregnancy Test Strip" to test urine. If it is positive, it is very likely that you are pregnant. If it is negative, it is the opposite. However, if you are pregnant, there will be other symptoms such as nausea, breast pain, etc.

Side effects of drugs, such as endocrine disorders after long-term use of contraceptives, can also cause delayed menstruation. The new generation of gastrokinetic drugs, metoclopramide, also known as domperidone, may also cause.

3. Surgery-induced, such as uterine surgery causing cervical adhesions and resulting in menstrual blood stasis, thus delaying menstruation.

4. Other psychological factors such as mental stress, high pressure, environmental changes, and some diseases that affect endocrine can cause delayed menstruation.

It is normal for women's menstruation to be advanced or delayed within seven days. The timing of menstruation will change with weather, environment, psychological factors, etc. If it is delayed for more than 10 days, you should pay attention to it. You can go to the hospital for consultation, take progesterone to induce menstruation, etc. You can also use Chinese medicine for treatment. Although it will be slower to take effect, it can thoroughly regulate the menstrual cycle.
