Causes of long-term vulvar itching

Causes of long-term vulvar itching

The symptom of vulva itching is actually quite common. It may be a manifestation of gynecological diseases, or it may be due to insufficient attention to one's own hygiene. However, the editor has collected two major reasons and found that this small symptom reflects many "big problems" and may be a sign of a certain disease. So what is the warning behind this seemingly common symptom?

1. Local causes

(1) Chronic vulvar dystrophy is characterized by severe itching, accompanied by pale vulvar skin.

(2) Drug allergy or chemical irritation: Soap, condoms, mercurochrome, etc. can cause contact dermatitis due to direct irritation or allergy, resulting in itching symptoms.

(3) Bad hygiene habits

Not paying attention to the local cleanliness of the vulva, sebum, sweat, menstruation, vaginal secretions, and even urine and feces can cause itching due to long-term stimulation of the vulva: using rubber or plastic menstrual belts during menstruation and wearing non-breathable chemical fiber underwear at other times can induce itching due to the accumulation of damp heat.

(4) Other skin lesions, abrasions, common warts, herpes, eczema, and tumors can all cause vulvar itching.

Second, systemic causes

(1) Diabetes

Due to the irritation of diabetes to the vulvar skin, especially when accompanied by fungal vulvitis, vulvar itching is particularly severe. Many patients first seek medical treatment due to itching and redness of the vulva, and are only diagnosed with diabetes after further examination.

(2) When patients with chronic diseases such as jaundice, vitamin A and B deficiency, anemia, leukemia, etc. experience vulvar itching, it is often part of general itching.

(3) Vulvar congestion during pregnancy and premenstrual period may occasionally cause vulvar itching and discomfort.

(4) Unexplained vulvar pruritus Some patients experience severe vulvar pruritus, but no obvious systemic or local cause can be found. Some people currently believe that it may be related to mental or psychological factors.

When you feel frequent itching in the vulva, you also need to observe whether there are other adverse symptoms. If you go to the hospital for a check-up and find that it is not just a gynecological disease, then it would be serious. In our daily lives, we should also take vitamins in food and keep clean in our living habits. This way diseases will stay away from us.
