What is the cause of abdominal pain at 39 weeks of pregnancy?

Many women will go to the hospital immediately for examination when they have lower abdominal pain at 39 weeks of pregnancy, because 39 weeks of pregnancy has entered the due date, and pregnant women will experience many discomfort symptoms, such as lower abdominal pain, swelling, difficulty sleeping, and the fetus will also experience hypoxia, decreased fetal movement and other abnormalities at 39 weeks. Patients should observe their symptoms at any time to prevent symptoms of delivery. Therefore, many pregnant women will ask what is the reason for lower abdominal pain at 39 weeks of pregnancy?

A 39-week fetus is full-term and may be delivered at any time. It is normal for the patient to experience lower abdominal pain at this time. Normal lower abdominal pain is due to uterine contractions. The patient should observe the timing of abdominal pain so that true and false uterine contractions can be diagnosed and an accurate judgment can be made. When the patient has regular and continuous pain, it is considered true uterine contractions and the patient must go to the hospital for examination. Such symptoms are precursors to delivery. Occasional lower abdominal pain indicates false labor and that there is still some time before delivery.

Pregnant women will also have premonitory symptoms of labor when they are about to give birth, which can be used as a basis for diagnosing labor. There are mainly three major signals:

1. Pregnant women feel relaxed in their abdomen. 1-2 weeks before delivery, primigravidas often feel their upper abdomen more comfortable, breathe more quickly, and eat more because the fetal presenting part descends into the pelvis and the fundus of the uterus lowers. However, as the presenting part descends and compresses the pelvic bladder, rectum and other tissues, the patient often feels a sense of heaviness in the lower abdomen, frequent urination, and back pain.

2. False contractions. Pregnant women often have irregular uterine contractions 1-2 weeks before delivery. Compared with the uterine contractions after delivery, they have the following characteristics: short duration, long intervals, and irregularity. The intensity of the contractions does not increase. The contractions only cause mild distension and pain and are limited to the lower abdomen. The cervix does not expand with the contractions. A small amount of sedatives can suppress this "false contraction."

3. Seeing blood. 24-48 hours before delivery, some mucus mixed with blood will flow out of the vagina, which is called spotting. It is caused by the expansion of the lower uterine segment and cervix, the separation of the nearby fetal membrane from the uterine wall, the rupture of capillaries and bleeding, which mix with the mucus in the cervix to form bloody mucous secretions. It is a relatively reliable sign before delivery. If the amount of vaginal bleeding is heavy and exceeds the amount of menstruation, it should not be considered as a sign of delivery. Instead, you should consider whether there are bleeding diseases in late pregnancy, such as placenta previa, placental abruption, etc.

Lower abdominal pain in women at 39 weeks of pregnancy must be taken seriously. Patients can analyze their pain symptoms to confirm true or false uterine contractions, and make preparations for delivery in time. This includes mental preparation, clothing and supplies to be worn during delivery, and items needed for the baby to be born, such as milk powder, bottles, clothes, diapers, etc., to avoid panic caused by sudden attacks. At this time, pregnant women should also adjust their emotions and actively participate in exercise to help with future delivery.
