What to do if you have sacral pain in late pregnancy

What to do if you have sacral pain in late pregnancy

When pregnant, women need to pay special attention to their physical health, because at this time, the body is prone to some discomfort symptoms, which must not be ignored. If abnormal problems occur at this time and cannot be effectively solved, in addition to affecting themselves, it will also cause adverse harm to the fetus. For example, during pregnancy, many women will experience sacral pain in the late pregnancy.

My lower back hurts so much, what should I do?

Lower back pain is very common and can occur throughout pregnancy. The initial cause of pain is the compression of the sacrum by the enlarging uterus; this is followed by changes in posture to counteract the forward shift of the center of gravity (enlarging abdomen); and finally, the compression of the sacrum by the fetal head. As pregnancy progresses, all the pelvic ligaments become lax, and tenderness may develop over the lumbosacral joints and pubic symphysis. ??

It's important to start lower back exercises, such as pelvic tilt exercises, in early pregnancy, before any pain occurs. A belly mask can be wrapped around the waist, which can make a big difference. Those maternity support belts that fully support the torso are also great. ??

If the back muscle spasms and affect normal walking, it is best to lie on your back in bed to relax your back muscles and bend your knees. If necessary, you can ask your doctor to prescribe some anesthetic drugs. Lying on your back is safe as long as you don't feel nauseous, sweat, or get a mild headache while doing so (see Exercise in this chapter). Muscle spasms can also be relieved by topical heat or hot baths, although the latter should be used after the early first trimester. If you are unable to walk due to back muscle spasms, it will take at least 2 to 3 days to fully recover. ??

?I not only have pain in my lower back, but also pain from my hips down to my legs. Is this due to muscle strain? ?

A herniated disc can occur at any time, including during pregnancy, the postpartum period, or even when you are not pregnant. Pain traveling down the sciatic nerve may be caused by a bulging disc in the lumbar spine that compresses the nerve root. However, the pain you describe is more like a combination of muscular and skeletal pain in the lower back, which is a combination of increased spinal curvature (lordosis) and water retention compressing the sciatic nerve root. ??

I hope that every pregnant mother can take care of her physical health. If you find problems such as lower back pain or lumbar pain, you should not ignore them. Pay attention to proper exercise in daily life and avoid excessive fatigue or compression of the back muscles, as these can easily lead to lumbar pain.
