How long does it take for menstruation to be considered amenorrhea?

From the beginning of puberty, female friends will have menstruation, and normal women have their periods every month. Menstruation is something that every woman of every age has every month. Whether the menstruation is normal is directly related to the woman's physical and mental health. When a woman finds that her menstruation is abnormal, she must go to the hospital for treatment in time. Amenorrhea is an abnormal condition and requires immediate hospital examination and treatment.

How long does it take for a period to be considered amenorrhea?

If a woman's menstrual period lasts less than 3 months, it is considered amenorrhea and she should see a doctor immediately. When a woman finds that she has amenorrhea, she should first take a pregnancy test to see if she is pregnant. Because after a woman successfully becomes pregnant, her menstrual period will temporarily stop and will not resume until after delivery.

Female amenorrhea is divided into primary and secondary types. In some cases, amenorrhea is normal. For example, amenorrhea that occurs in women's early puberty, pregnancy, and breastfeeding is physiological amenorrhea. And when women reach a certain age, due to the gradual decline of the body, uterus and ovaries, they will also experience amenorrhea, but we call this condition menopause.

Except for the above-mentioned situations, other amenorrhea is abnormal. There are many diseases that can cause amenorrhea in women, such as polycystic ovary syndrome and intrauterine adhesions. Therefore, after women experience amenorrhea, they should pay great attention to it and go to the hospital for medical treatment immediately. If amenorrhea is caused by disease, we need to actively seek treatment.

The dangers of amenorrhea

1. Infertility. From the perspective of infertility, the most important thing is to determine the degree of premature menopause in order to induce ovulation and achieve pregnancy. Some patients with first-degree amenorrhea may experience ovulation cycles. In the second degree of menopause, the body's estrogen level is very low, there is no proliferative change in the uterine wall, and the eggs basically do not grow and develop.

2. Diseases such as osteoporosis and hypertension. It goes without saying that amenorrhea causes a series of menopausal symptoms. Postmenopausal women will suffer from osteoporosis because of the increase in cholesterol, triglycerides and low-density protein, which can also easily lead to arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease and hypertension.

3. Accelerate aging. Premature menopause caused by premature ovarian failure will accelerate women's aging, causing osteoporosis, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, frequent urination, urinary pain, decreased sleep, and disharmonious marital life. The amenorrhea caused by blindly following the trend of dieting to lose weight in women of childbearing age will not only cause endocrine disorders, but also cause shrinkage of the reproductive organs, affecting fertility.

4. Low libido. Premature amenorrhea is a gynecological disease, but what has a negative impact on the human body is the primary disease that causes amenorrhea, such as male reproductive organ dysplasia, tumors, deformities, etc. The damage caused by this primary disease cannot be ignored. It may lead to uterine atrophy or insufficient physiological functions, such as decreased secretion, pain during sexual intercourse, low libido and infertility.
