Amenorrhea is a common gynecological disease. Traditional Chinese medicine has many discussions on amenorrhea. Traditional Chinese medicine mainly uses the method of syndrome differentiation and treatment to treat amenorrhea, which can be divided into qi and blood deficiency, liver and kidney yin deficiency, qi stagnation and blood stasis, cold stagnation and blood stasis, and phlegm-dampness obstruction for treatment. So based on these five types, what are the traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions for treating amenorrhea?

1. Phlegm-dampness blockage

Symptoms: Menstruation gradually stops after it starts, chest and flank fullness and tightness, mental fatigue, increased leucorrhea, or vomiting of phlegm. The tongue is pale and fat, the tongue coating is greasy and smooth, and the pulse is stringy and slippery. It is more common in obese patients with amenorrhea.

Diet therapy: ① Job's tears, fried lentils, hawthorn, and brown sugar in appropriate amounts, cook the four ingredients together into porridge. Take once a day, 7 to 8 days per month. ②Atractylodes lancea, japonica rice. First, boil the Atractylodes lancea in water, remove the residue and take the juice, then add it to rice and cook it into porridge. Take it once a day and can be taken for several consecutive days.

2. Liver and kidney yin deficiency

Symptoms: Menstruation has not come yet, or the menarche is late, the amount of menstruation is small and light in color, and it gradually leads to amenorrhea, or amenorrhea lasts for a long time, weight loss and low fever, dry skin, dull complexion, dry mouth and tongue, and red cheeks. Accompanied by dizziness, soreness of waist and knees, red tongue with little coating, weak or thready pulse.

Diet therapy: ① Turtle shell, white pigeon. Wash the pigeon, crush the turtle shell and put it into the pigeon's belly, put them in a clay pot and add appropriate amount of water. After stewing, season and serve. Take once every other day, 5 to 6 times a month. ② Turtle and grams of lean pork, cook them into soup, season and take it once a day for several days every month.

3. Qi stagnation and blood stasis

Symptoms: After being furious or worried, menstruation stops suddenly or does not occur for several months, pain and distension in the lower abdomen, chest and flanks, swollen breasts, sallow complexion with a bluish-gray tint, headache, irritability or depression, insomnia and dreaminess, and poor appetite. The tongue is pale with ecchymoses or petechiae, and the pulse is thready and wiry. It is common in patients with amenorrhea who have mental stimulation as the cause.

Diet therapy: ① Decoction of motherwort, orange, and brown sugar, once a day, for several days every month. ② Add appropriate amount of Chuanxiong, eggs and brown sugar to water and boil. After the eggs are cooked, peel the shells and take out the eggs. Boil for a while, remove the residue, add brown sugar to taste, and eat the eggs and drink the soup. Take once a day for 5 to 7 days.

4. Cold and blood stasis

Symptoms: amenorrhea, cold pain in the lower abdomen, chest tightness and nausea, cold limbs, bluish complexion, and profuse white vaginal discharge. The tongue is pale and dark with ecchymosis on the edges, the tongue coating is thin and white, and the pulse is thin, astringent or stringy.

Diet therapy: ① Add appropriate amount of water to mugwort leaves, ginger, eggs, put them in a casserole and cook together. After the eggs are cooked, peel the shells and take out the eggs. Cook for a while, season and drink the soup and eat the eggs. Take once a day and 5 to 6 times a month. ②Put angelica, ginger and mutton in a clay pot and cook together. After it is well cooked, season and serve. Take once a day, 5 to 6 times a month.

5. Insufficient Qi and Blood

Symptoms: Menstruation gradually decreases and eventually stops completely, pale or sallow complexion (dry and dull), dizziness, palpitations, shortness of breath, mental fatigue, insomnia, and poor appetite. The tongue is pale with a thin white coating, and the pulse is deep, thready and weak. It is common in patients with amenorrhea who have heavy postpartum bleeding, prolonged breastfeeding, multiple pregnancies and births, and malnutrition.

Diet therapy: ① Angelica, 30 grams of Astragalus, ginger, and mutton. Cut the mutton into pieces, chop the ginger into shreds, wrap the angelica and astragalus with gauze, put them in a clay pot, add appropriate amount of water, stew until well-cooked, remove the residue, season and serve. Take once a day, 3 to 5 days per month. ② Northern Astragalus and wolfberry, 1 baby pigeon. Wash the squab, wrap the astragalus in cloth, put them in a stewing pot, add appropriate amount of water, stew them until cooked, season and drink the soup and eat the meat. Stew and take it once every other day, 4 to 5 times a month.
