In-depth revelation: Why can't women wear dark underwear?

From a health care perspective, women should not wear dark-colored underwear such as red. It is best to wear white or light-colored underwear so that they can frequently observe whether the leucorrhea is normal. Leucorrhea is a secretion from the reproductive tract. When the color and smell of leucorrhea change, it means your reproductive system is sending an alarm.

Tofu-like leucorrhea: It is most likely candidal vaginitis

Candidal vaginitis, also known as Candida vaginitis, is one of the common vaginitis, often caused by the massive reproduction of Candida albicans in the vagina. When suffering from candidal vaginitis, the typical leucorrhea is in the form of tofu dregs or curds, and the vulva will be extremely itchy, often accompanied by a local burning sensation.

Candidal vaginitis is more common in pregnant women and diabetic patients; long-term use of broad-spectrum antibiotics can cause imbalance in the normal vaginal flora, which is conducive to the growth and reproduction of Candida albicans and makes people more susceptible to this disease; patients taking corticosteroids, immunosuppressants and autoimmune diseases are also susceptible to this disease; wearing tight nylon pants can increase the humidity and temperature of the perineum, which is conducive to the growth and reproduction of Candida albicans.

Expert advice: Professor Xie Meiqing reminds that if you suffer from candidal vaginitis, your sexual partner may also become a carrier, and about 10% of men may develop balanoposthitis as a result. If only you receive treatment and your partner does not clean his or her sexual organs or receive treatment accordingly, the germs he or she carries will be transmitted to you again, causing you to be infected again.

Yellow or green foamy vaginal discharge: may be Trichomonas vaginitis

The main clinical manifestations of Trichomonas vaginitis are increased amount of leucorrhea, mild itching and burning pain in the vulva and vagina, and yellow-green, foamy leucorrhea with an odor. When inflammation invades the urethra, there may be symptoms of urgency and frequency of urination.

Trichomonal vaginitis is caused by infection with Trichomonas vaginalis, a tiny flagellated protozoan organism. There are two ways of transmission of Trichomonas vaginitis, one is direct transmission through sexual intercourse, and the other is indirect transmission, such as public baths, bathtubs, bath towels, toilets in public toilets, etc. Trichomonas vaginalis often parasitizes in the urogenital tract. In women, it mainly exists in the vagina, but also in the urethra, paraurethral glands, bladder and other parts. The infection often occurs after menstruation. In men, it often parasitizes in the urethra, prostate and other parts. Men infected with Trichomonas have no symptoms and are easily ignored.

Experts recommend: When traveling, do not take a bath in the hotel bathtub or swim in a pool that is not properly disinfected. If you have Trichomonas vaginitis, it is best to take medication for three consecutive months after your period. Don't forget to ask your partner to take the treatment with you, otherwise he will be a carrier and can continue to infect you through sexual intercourse.

Yellow pus-filled leucorrhea: You may be suffering from chronic cervicitis

Increased vaginal discharge is the main symptom of chronic cervicitis. Usually the vaginal discharge is yellow and purulent, sometimes accompanied by a fishy smell, or there may be bleeding during sexual intercourse, vulvar itching or burning discomfort. When the inflammation spreads to the pelvic cavity, there may be pain in the lumbar region and distension in the lower abdomen. These symptoms worsen before and after menstruation, bowel movements, and sexual intercourse. Sometimes it is accompanied by frequent urination, difficulty urinating, irregular menstruation, infertility, etc.

Expert advice: Professor Xie pointed out that chronic cervicitis will not only affect your quality of life, but may also cause other diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease. Most cervicitis is caused by the invasion of pathogens after cervical injury. For example, frequent artificial abortions can easily cause chronic cervicitis. When chronic cervicitis occurs, especially moderate or severe inflammation, cervical secretions will increase significantly, become viscous, and contain a large number of white blood cells, which will have an adverse effect on sperm motility, hinder sperm from entering the uterine cavity, and affect conception. In addition, data from cancer prevention surveys show that women with cervicitis, especially those with HPV (human papillomavirus) infection, have a much higher incidence of cervical malignant lesions than healthy women. Therefore, actively treating cervicitis and taking targeted preventive measures are of great significance to protecting women's health and preventing and treating cervical cancer.

Leucorrhea mixed with blood: Beware of malignant changes in the cervix and uterus

If there is vaginal discharge that is rice-washing water-like, or brown leucorrhea mixed with blood, or irregular bleeding, you need to be wary of malignant changes in the cervix or uterine body and should go to the hospital for further examination for early diagnosis and treatment.

Experts recommend: Women who have sexual activities should undergo regular cervical TCT examinations and HPV tests. TCT is the most accurate detection technology for cervical cancer that can replace traditional cervical smear detection at home and abroad. It can detect early cancerous cells or precancerous lesions of atypical hyperplasia. If high-risk virus infection is found during cervical HPV testing, it should be closely tracked to achieve true early diagnosis and treatment.

Tips: Ask a doctor for diagnosis, do not take medicine on your own

Professor Xie emphasized that when women find abnormal leucorrhea, they should pay attention to it and go to the hospital for appropriate examinations and treatment, and never take medication on their own. In addition, annual gynecological examinations are essential.

When many women have abnormal leucorrhea, they think it is an inflammation and they can just wash it away, so they buy vaginal cleansers to flush their vaginas. However, they do not realize that frequent use of vaginal cleansers may temporarily eliminate some pathogens, but a normal ecological balance cannot be established. Excessive washing also affects the normal physiological function of the reproductive tract, resulting in more leucorrhea, and may even cause vulvar itching and nonspecific vaginitis. Some women like to use sanitary pads to keep their underwear clean, but frequent use of sanitary pads is not conducive to the ventilation of the vulva, and the humid environment is conducive to the growth of bacteria, so it is not recommended to use sanitary pads frequently.
