Under normal circumstances, it takes a certain amount of time for a woman to become pregnant. Generally speaking, a woman becomes pregnant within 15 to 18 hours after the egg cell is discharged from the female ovary. After the egg is released, it can survive in the woman's body for two days, so having sex after ovulation can increase the chances of pregnancy. However, for a woman to successfully become pregnant after having sex, the following conditions must be met: the man's testicles can produce normal sperm; the woman's ovaries can produce healthy and complete eggs; she has normal sexual life before and after ovulation; her reproductive system is unobstructed; and the extracellular fluid in the uterus is suitable for the implantation and development of the embryo combined with sperm and egg.

The principle of pregnancy test is to detect human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in the body's urine. Generally, trophoblasts begin to secrete a small amount of hCG on the 6th day after ovum fertilization, and hCG can be detected in the blood about 1 day later. This is the most sensitive way to detect pregnancy, and the positive hCG reaction in urine will appear later than in blood. Although many pregnancy test strips indicate that women can take a pregnancy test one day after missing their normal menstrual period, in fact, the sensitivity of each pregnancy test strip is different, and the test varies from person to person.

The longer the time interval between sexual intercourse, the more accurate the test result will be. With the promotion of microvilli in the fallopian tubes, it takes 6-7 days to reach the uterus. Although many early pregnancy test strips indicate that women can test whether they are pregnant one day after their menstrual period is delayed. But in fact, human chorionic gonadotropin is only metabolized by the embryo 10-14 minutes after pregnancy.
