Do soft breasts mean you don't have enough breast milk?

Do soft breasts mean you don't have enough breast milk?

This situation does not necessarily mean there is no milk. Generally, after the physiological milk swelling of breastfeeding mothers, if the breasts cannot get enough sucking stimulation, the already swollen mammary tissue will relax and become soft, but this does not mean that you have less breast milk. Soft breasts are a signal that you are not sucking enough. The softer the breasts are, the more you need to suck. Through the baby's sucking stimulation, the breasts will be stimulated by milk and the breast milk will increase.

Breastfeeding mothers should also frequently touch their babies, do not let them sleep all the time, and increase the effective nipple sucking time of their babies. Otherwise, they will wake up repeatedly to sleep and eat, which is very troublesome and breast milk will not be produced much. It is recommended that mothers who exclusively breastfeed should supplement more protein and drink more crucian carp and tofu soup, bean products, peanut kernels and other milk-producing foods, which will also enhance the metabolism of breast milk.

Some mothers feel that their breasts are swollen and hard as a criterion for "whether the baby's appetite is sufficient". In fact, the key to "whether the baby's appetite is sufficient" is to look at the amount of toileting the baby every day, including the situation of dizziness (at a certain stage, it is necessary to determine whether the child's dizziness trend is increasing or decreasing). For example, if a child urinates 6-7 times, the color does not look like dark brown but light yellow, and the bowel movements are regular and have good characteristics, and are orange-yellow and viscous, then the mother does not need to worry too much about insufficient appetite. If the food intake reaches a certain level and the baby's needs reach a "supply and demand balance", the mother should not always feel that breast engorgement is just a comfortable state. In fact, it is a better state, so there is no need to worry about not having enough breast milk because of the lack of breast engorgement.

1. Why are breasts soft?

After the physiological milk swelling period, if the breasts cannot get enough sucking stimulation, the already swollen mammary tissue will relax and become soft, but this does not mean that you have less breast milk.

2. Soft breasts are a signal that you are not sucking enough.

The softer the breasts are, the more you need to suck. Through the baby's sucking stimulation, the breasts will be milky and the breast milk will increase. Don't stop the baby from sucking because your breasts are soft and you are impatient. In short, just persist for a while.

It should be noted that some mothers habitually let their babies suck when their breasts are swollen. This practice is extremely wrong. We have repeatedly emphasized that there is no need to save milk, and the more breast milk is sucked, the more it will be.

3. Which soft breasts mean low breast milk production?

First of all, look at the time interval of the baby sucking the nipple. Some mothers do not have swelling during the day but increase at night, which means that the sucking during the day is relatively frequent. It depends on which stage of breastfeeding you are in. Generally, in the middle and late stages of breastfeeding, if the amount of milk from the mother and the baby is already balanced and the breasts swell less, the breasts will become soft.

Soft breasts do not necessarily mean less breast milk, because I have seen mothers with strong and swollen breasts but no breast milk. So, which breasts have less breast milk? I think generally there won't be any.
