Forty weeks and no signs of labor

Forty weeks and no signs of labor

Ten months of pregnancy is exactly 40 weeks. If there is no sound of labor after 40 weeks, there is a possibility of overbirth. Why is the baby not born after 40 weeks? If a pregnant mother reaches her due date but the baby is delayed, what measures should be taken at this time? In order to avoid accidents, pregnant mothers who have not yet reached their due date should have a look.

Is it normal for a pregnant woman to not hear any sounds of labor after 40 weeks?

There is no need to worry if the expectant mother has no signs of delivery when the due date comes. The expectant mother can do ultrasound, fetal heart rate monitoring and other tests at the hospital before and after the due date to confirm that the fetus is growing steadily. At the same time, you should count the fetal movements yourself and wait. If there is still no sound after more than a week, you can be hospitalized for delivery, which will be safer with a doctor.

Generally speaking, the delivery period needs to be at least 40 weeks of pregnancy, and it is normal for pregnant women to give birth between 37-40 weeks. Exactly forty weeks is not considered overdue pregnancy. In this case, it is recommended that you wait patiently.

What are the signs of having a baby at 40 weeks?

1. Lowering of the uterine fundus

About half a month after the first birth, the fundus of the uterus will drop. At this time, the upper abdomen will feel relaxed, breathing will become more comfortable than before, the discomfort in the stomach will be relieved a lot, and the appetite will also increase.

2. There is a feeling of oppression in the lower abdomen

Because of the descent, the part of the body that will be exposed first during delivery has already dropped to the entrance of the pelvis, causing lower abdominal pain and bladder compression. At this time, you may feel back pain and leg pain, difficulty walking, and frequent and urgent urination.

3. Spotting during pregnancy

In the last few weeks of pregnancy, the cervix secretions increase and leucorrhea occurs spontaneously. Normal cervical secretions are viscous liquid. Usually, mucus plugs are formed in the cervix to prevent bacteria from invading the uterus. During pregnancy, this type of secretion is larger and more viscous. As the uterus contracts regularly, this mucus plug is expelled with the contractions of the uterus at the beginning of labor.

4. Regular abdominal pain

The pain usually lasts for 30 seconds, with an interval of 10 minutes. After that, the pain duration gradually increases and the time interval decreases, which is called regular pain.

5. Broken water

The discharge of amniotic fluid from the vagina of a pregnant woman is also known as "water breaking". Due to the strong contraction of the uterus, the pressure in the uterus gradually increases, the cervical opening expands, and the head drops, causing the amniotic fluid to rupture and discharge from the vagina. At this time, birth is very close.

The previous article introduced in detail the reasons why there is no labor sound at 40 weeks of pregnancy, as well as the appropriate measures. Before giving birth, pregnant women usually have continuous and regular uterine contractions, and amniotic fluid can be seen. Pregnant women must be accompanied by their relatives before giving birth so that they can go to the hospital immediately. If you have time, why not prepare a delivery checklist for your baby so that you can do it when necessary.
