In late pregnancy, the amount of amniotic fluid increases

During pregnancy, female friends must have regular prenatal checkups. Don't take chances and think that there is nothing wrong with your body so you don't go for a checkup. Especially in the later stages of pregnancy, you should pay attention to the amniotic fluid flow of the pregnant woman. Too much or too little will affect the growth and development of the child. Although it is common for pregnant women to have increased amniotic fluid in the late stages of pregnancy, do you know why?

Reasons for increased amniotic fluid in late pregnancy

Fetuses with blood pressure abnormalities, such as anencephaly, spina bifida, etc.;

In multiple pregnancies, especially monozygotic twin pregnancies, one of the babies often has polyhydramnios;

Supplement for pregnant women with diabetes or pregnancy-induced hypertension, especially those with anemia;

Weight-bearing embryonic factors such as fetal umbilical cord stenosis or embryonic villous hemangioma. However, about half of the patients with polyhydramnios cannot find the cause of the disease.

What to do if there is too much amniotic fluid

Due to excessive amniotic fluid, the risk of umbilical cord prolapse (referring to the fetal umbilical cord falling out of the cervix) or placental abruption when the amniotic fluid breaks will be higher. Both of these situations require immediate cesarean section (C-section). This is why when the amniotic fluid is too high, the doctor will ask you to go to the hospital for outpatient delivery as soon as possible. Or, if your water breaks before labor starts, your doctor will admit you to the hospital immediately. In addition, because your uterus has been stretched too much, it may not be able to contract well, so the possibility of postpartum hemorrhage will also increase. Therefore, your doctor will closely monitor your condition after you give birth.

Pregnant women with excessive amniotic fluid in the late pregnancy do not need to be overly anxious. They should pay attention to rest under the guidance of the doctor and eat lighter dishes. During pregnancy, you must do a good job of check-ups, maintain a happy mood, and don't get upset or lose your temper. The mother's bad mood will be contagious to the baby. I hope all pregnant mothers can have a healthy baby.
