How many degrees of fever can I have during breastfeeding?

Mothers who are breastfeeding will encounter various problems in their daily lives. Usually, a small symptom during breastfeeding needs to be taken seriously, because it is related to the physical and mental health of the baby. However, fever and cold do occur frequently during breastfeeding. So, at what temperature should breastfeeding be stopped if the patient has a fever during breastfeeding?

How high a fever is during breastfeeding can you not breastfeed?

Specialists recommend that pregnant women who have a fever exceeding 38 degrees during lactation should stop breastfeeding, and should take medication immediately to avoid affecting milk production and causing a decrease in milk production. At the same time, take appropriate anti-fever and cold medicines, drink plenty of water during the period, avoid eating spicy and cold foods, and irritating and hot foods to maintain smooth bowel movements. If the condition does not improve after taking the medicine, you will need to be treated with intravenous drip.

How to prevent fever during breastfeeding

1. Natural ventilation of residence

New mothers' homes should be ventilated 2-3 times a day, each time for 20-30 minutes, in order to reduce the growth of microorganisms in the air and prevent fever virus infection.

Special note: When ventilating naturally, the new mother and baby should be temporarily moved to another room to prevent them from catching cold due to direct convection wind.

2. Antifreeze and keep warm

During the winter confinement period, the new mother's home should be comfortable and quiet, as well as frost-proof and warm. The room temperature is best maintained at 20-24 degrees Celsius. If there is no radiator at home, you can use air conditioning or electric heater to maintain a suitable temperature in the room.

3. Suitable environmental humidity

If you have radiators at home in winter, you should be careful not to let the air in the room be too dry. Dryness can easily cause dry mouth, nosebleeds, sore throat, etc. You can use a humidifier or put a basin of water in the room to increase the relative humidity of the air. The relative humidity of the air in the room should be maintained at 55% to 65%.

4. Take some rest

Keep a good mood and ensure adequate sleep. A good attitude and good sleep quality can improve the body's resistance.

5. Balanced diet

The diet should be nutritionally balanced. In winter, new mothers should eat more fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and high-protein foods as much as possible. These foods can promote the normal metabolism of cells and enhance the body's immunity. You should also drink more water and urinate more often to remove toxins from your body immediately, which will help resist the erosion of fever virus infections.

6. Facial cleansing

New mothers sweat a lot, and their clothes and quilts are often wet with sweat, which can easily make bacteria multiply and grow. Therefore, the new mother's clothes and quilts must be washed and dried frequently, which can not only keep them clean, but also kill bacteria by the ultraviolet light in the sun.

New mothers should pay attention to preventing various diseases. Only when the mother is healthy can the baby grow up healthily.
