What does Qing Palace mean?

Nowadays, many women think that if they don't want to have sex after getting pregnant, they can just get an abortion. In fact, abortion has a great impact on health, especially abortion through induced abortion will hurt the uterus more. In serious cases, it will directly cause infertility. After natural induced abortion, it is necessary to perform uterine cleaning after medical abortion. So what does uterine cleaning after medical abortion mean?

What does it mean to have a uterine curettage after medical abortion?

Curettage after medical abortion is a surgical procedure to scrape the uterine wall or the contents of the uterine cavity. Minimally invasive surgery is commonly performed in obstetrics and gynecology and is one of the methods of abortion. The purposes of surgery include diagnostic biopsy, treatment of irregular uterine bleeding, removal of test tube embryo tissue (for artificial abortion or treatment of incomplete miscarriage), infertility, etc.

There are two types of curettage: diagnostic curettage and therapeutic curettage. Curettage is further divided into general curettage and segmental curettage. Therapeutic curettage includes suction curettage and forceps curettage. Suction curettage is the use of an air pressure plastic straw to suck out the contents of the uterine cavity, and forceps curettage is the use of an oval forceps to remove the contents of the uterine cavity, followed by a curettage procedure.

The curettage operation is divided into two steps. The first step is to dilate the cervix to a sufficient size, and the second step is to use a curette to extend into the uterus and scrape out the tissue or test tube embryo. Curettage has very low risk factors, and under normal circumstances, patients can resume activities once they feel better (usually within the same day). After the operation, vaginal bleeding, lower abdominal cramps and back pain may last for several days. You can take painkillers to relieve the pain. It is not recommended to use tampons within a few weeks, and you are not allowed to have sex within a few days.

Uterine curettage is generally used in abortion surgery

Generally, when medical abortion is not completely complete, it is necessary to use medical methods to remove the residual test tube embryo tissue in the uterine cavity. This is called curettage. Therefore, it can be said that curettage is the traditional abortion surgery, but curettage is different from abortion because it is only used to remove the tissue retained in the uterine cavity after incomplete abortion, assist in the repair of the uterus, and reduce the possibility of bleeding or infection.

Women who are afraid of pain can choose painless curettage. It is recommended to go to the hospital first to do blood HCG and B-ultrasound tests to see the gestational sac, calculate the pregnancy time, and choose the abortion method that suits you according to the pregnancy time. Medical abortion can be done within 40 days of pregnancy from the start of menstruation, and surgical abortion can be done between 40 and 70 days of pregnancy. If the fetal sac is larger than 4cm on B-ultrasound, surgical abortion cannot be done.

As the pregnancy lasts longer, the fetus becomes larger. At this time, the cervix needs to be dilated to the maximum limit to scrape out the fetus, so scraping the uterus becomes more difficult. In addition, the longer the pregnancy lasts, the softer the uterus will become, and the chance of rupturing the uterus during surgery will naturally increase, so curettage should be done as early as possible.
