Can women get pregnant after menopause?

When women reach puberty, they will have menstruation, which can generally last for decades. After reaching a certain age, menstruation will stop, which is a very natural physiological phenomenon. Most of the female friends go through menopause around the age of 50. So, can women get pregnant after menopause?

After menopause, women can no longer get pregnant. This is because once a woman reaches menopause, it means that the ovaries have already declined and will no longer secrete estrogen and estrogens regularly, and the uterine wall will no longer undergo regular changes, so women will basically have no chance of getting pregnant.

About one year after menopause, women will experience uterine shrinkage and softening of the uterine wall. At this time, the thickness of the uterine wall will be less than 0.5cm, and the uterus and ovaries will also shrink, harden and shrink, and it will be difficult for eggs to be discharged. Therefore, once a woman reaches menopause, it is almost impossible for her to get pregnant.

Some women also have premature ovarian failure, which can cause women to go into menopause too early, such as just after age 40. Although premature ovarian failure is irreversible, when women reach early menopause, there may still be a certain number of eggs in their bodies. At this time, by changing the status quo and taking some pregnancy preparation measures, the uterus can still develop fully, so these women may be able to conceive.

One of the most serious risks of premature ovarian failure is infertility. The number of a woman's oocytes reaches its maximum in the fifth month of pregnancy, about 6 to 7 million, and is unlikely to increase in the future. As the gestational age increases, the number of eggs gradually decreases, and only 1 to 2 million eggs are left at birth. As we age, the number of eggs will lock and die in batches. After puberty, one egg matures every month, but with the onset of puberty, a group of small eggs will die. When all the eggs are locked and dead, women may enter menopause, and it will be more difficult to get pregnant again. Previously, premature ovarian failure was considered completely irreversible. However, despite the early stages of menopause, some patients still have a certain number of eggs in their bodies. By changing their current situation and proactively preparing for pregnancy treatment, they may still be able to have children. In response to premature ovarian failure caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy for malignant diseases, overseas capitalist countries generally use fertility protection technology for these people before radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and we are also making efforts in this regard.
