Where is the fetal heart rate during pregnancy?

To understand the fetus's heart rate is to understand the fetus's life. During pregnancy, many pregnant women are eager to feel the movement of the fetus and experience their existence. Where is the fetal heartbeat of a six-month-old fetus? In addition to going to the hospital, can fetal heart monitoring and examination be performed at home?

Where is the heartbeat of a six month old fetus?

The fetus may begin to have a heart rate as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy. So, can you hear the fetal heartbeat with auscultation? Yes, but due to the principle of auscultation, the fetal heartbeat cannot be amplified. Therefore, if the fetus is too small, the heart rate is not obvious and cannot be heard with auscultation. Generally, the fetal heartbeat can be measured with a Doppler fetal heart monitor around 10-12 weeks of pregnancy, but it is not easy to hear the fetal heartbeat with a normal stethoscope at this time. The fetal heartbeat can only be heard with a stethoscope after 18-20 weeks of pregnancy.

It should be noted that most people cannot hear the fetal heart rate with a stethoscope, but pregnant women can try to use a stethoscope to listen to the fetal heart rate under the guidance of a doctor. Before 24 weeks of pregnancy, the fetal heart rate is usually just below the navel. After 24 weeks of pregnancy, as the baby grows, the position of the fetal heart will move upward.

Because the baby's fetal movement is usually the movement of the baby's hands and feet, when you feel frequent fetal movements on the right side, the fetal heartbeat is usually on the left; when you feel frequent fetal movements on the left side, the fetal heartbeat is usually on the right side. Head and breech presentation can also affect the location of the fetal heart. In the head position, the fetal heartbeat is below the navel, and in the breech position, the fetal heartbeat is above the navel. Pregnant women can use auscultation to listen to their abdomen to see which part can hear the baby's heart rate.

Fetal heart rate monitoring

There are currently three ways to detect fetal heart rate at home: auscultation, fetal heartbeat (sound) monitor, and fetal talk monitor.

1. Auscultation has relatively high technical requirements for finding the fetal heart rate, the sound is relatively small, and it is not easy for ordinary people to find, but the price is relatively low.

2. Both fetal heart rate monitors and fetal talk monitors use Doppler lung auscultation technology. Fetal heart rate monitors can be used to listen to fetal heart rate, and some can display fetal heart rate through LED or LCD screen;

3. The fetal talker is a smart product that can detect the fetal heartbeat at home, and can be used to listen to and record fetal sounds; count the fetal heart rate and fetal movements; draw monitoring graphs; and share them with doctors or friends through the Internet. The functions are more complete than traditional ones, but they must be connected to a mobile phone app and are suitable for pregnant women with Apple and Android phones.

Baby movement

If the number of fetal movements exceeds 12 times, it is normal; if the number of fetal movements is less than 10 times in 12 hours, it belongs to decreased fetal movement, and you should carefully find the cause and go to the hospital for fetal heart monitoring when necessary.
