How many days beyond the due date is considered normal?

Some pregnant women still have no signs of delivery when their due date comes, which makes their families very worried, wondering if there are any unexpected situations. In fact, it is normal for pregnant women to give birth after the due date, but it is also a range. If it exceeds a few days, it will be abnormal. How many days beyond the due date is considered normal?

It is normal for the delivery period to exceed a few days

It is normal for pregnant women to give birth within half a month before or after the due date. When a baby is born between 24 and 36 weeks of pregnancy, it is considered a premature baby (early birth), while if it is delayed beyond the due date, that is, born after the 42nd week, it is considered an overdue birth (due birth). If a pregnant woman has already passed her due date and has not yet shown any signs of labor, she must pay attention to the following:

1. Don't be too anxious. Even if the number of weeks of pregnancy is accurate, the impact of maternal and child products on the delivery of pregnant women in the first half month after delivery will not be significant, but pay attention to the baby's fetal movement. Fetal movement monitoring is the best self-monitoring method in the late pregnancy. It can reflect the survival status of the fetus in the uterine cavity. Once the fetal movement is less than 3 times per hour or less than 20 times within 12 hours, or the fetal movement becomes weak, you need to go to the hospital for further examination immediately. The doctor will decide the time for pregnant women to give birth according to the situation.

2. Conduct another pregnancy check-up and inform the doctor of the results of early pregnancy tests (such as B-ultrasound, blood tests, pregnancy tests, etc.) and the time and results of the baby's fetal movement. Ask the doctor to let you check the number of weeks of pregnancy again.

3. Increase pregnancy checkups, shorten the checkup intervals, keep in touch with the doctor at any time, inform the doctor of the baby's fetal movement in the uterine cavity, and also perform B-ultrasound to follow up the amniotic fluid flow. If no abnormalities are found, you can become pregnant again under close monitoring.

If the delivery date is delayed beyond 14 days, which is what clinical medicine calls post-term pregnancy, the embryo of some pregnant women will become fragile and the fetus will suffer from lack of oxygen and suffocation, which will cause great harm to the child and you should go to the hospital immediately to take effective measures.

Common problems with approaching due date

1. Pay attention to the baby's fetal movement every day. If the baby does not move, you can walk around, change your posture, or gently pat your belly. If the baby still does not move, see a doctor as soon as possible.

2. If you can choose a natural birth, you should walk more and climb stairs more often. It is recommended to go to a quiet place in the park to relax after a meal. Don't go to crowded places such as shopping malls, where the CO2 is relatively thin, which is not good for the baby.

3. If you find that your amniotic fluid has broken (that is, you suddenly urinate and cannot hold it in) or have standard labor pains for three to five minutes (like menstrual cramps), you need to see a doctor immediately.

5. Things you need to buy: abdominal belt, maternity pads, extra-large sanitary napkins, toiletries, breast pump and breast pads, 125ML glass bottle (if you want to breastfeed), baby gauze clothes, swaddles (if the hospital does not provide baby formula, you have to prepare it yourself)
