Will fungus heal itself after menstruation?

Many women are prone to fungal infections, which can cause symptoms such as vaginal itching and abnormal leucorrhea, which have a significant impact on women's bodies and lives. For some women, the symptoms of fungal infection will be relieved during menstruation. This situation is also related to the woman’s own vaginal environment. So will fungus heal itself after women have their period?

1. During menstruation, women's menstrual blood will wash away some of the fungi in the vagina, so many women may experience self-healing of fungi after menstruation. However, since fungi are pathogens that normally reside in the vagina, when the vaginal environment becomes abnormal again, fungal vaginitis will still recur, so many women may suffer from repeated fungal vaginitis. Moreover, studies have found that more than 90% of women will suffer from candidal vaginitis 1 to 2 times in their lifetime.

2. The symptoms of fungal infection may be significantly alleviated after menstruation, but it cannot achieve a complete cure. Because mold likes to grow in an acidic environment, and menstrual blood is alkaline. When menstrual blood repeatedly flushes the vagina, the growth of fungi will be inhibited and the internal environment of the vagina will temporarily become alkaline, so the symptoms will be alleviated, but the fungi will not be completely killed. Therefore, it is recommended to continue medication treatment after menstruation.

3. It is very unlikely that candidal vaginitis will heal itself after menstruation. In addition to changing underwear frequently, do not wear tight underwear, wear more cotton underwear, and pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva. If candidal vaginitis recurs, it is recommended to use nitrofuratel nystatin vaginal suppository, one pill every night for 7-14 consecutive days. Fluconazole can also be taken orally. Take 3 tablets orally the first time, and then take 3 tablets after 72 hours. During treatment, sexual intercourse and even swimming are prohibited, and the partner can take fluconazole.
