After a woman becomes pregnant, many uncomfortable symptoms will accompany the entire pregnancy, but some more serious symptoms, such as nausea and vomiting, will weaken or even disappear due to endocrine changes in the body. Different pregnant women have different reactions after pregnancy. Generally speaking, the early symptoms are more severe, but after 3 months of pregnancy, the pregnancy reactions will be reduced a lot. Nausea and vomiting occur in most pregnancies (50% to 90%), usually starting from 6 to 8 weeks of pregnancy and reaching a peak at 10 to 12 weeks. About half of them are relieved before 14 weeks of pregnancy, and 90% are relieved before 22 weeks of pregnancy. 80% of women with morning sickness experience vomiting that lasts all day, not just "morning sickness." Treatment of nausea and vomiting rarely relieves symptoms completely, but it can significantly reduce the associated discomfort and unpleasantness. Eating small meals frequently and avoiding fullness, greasy meals, etc. have therapeutic value in themselves. The herb, ginger, also has therapeutic value. B vitamins may also relieve some symptoms. Rigorous clinical studies have shown that the use of metoclopramide (also known as "Metoclopramide") in early pregnancy does not increase the risk of birth defects in newborns. Pregnant women who suffer from severe nausea and vomiting should take appropriate medication under the guidance of a doctor. Hyperemesis gravidarum occurs in less than 1% of cases and involves recurrent vomiting, weight loss of more than 5% of pre-pregnancy weight, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and ketosis, generally requiring hospitalization. In the early stages of pregnancy (about six weeks after menstruation), the level of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in the pregnant woman's body increases, gastric acid secretion decreases, and gastric emptying time is prolonged, leading to a series of reactions such as dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, preference for sour food or aversion to greasy food, nausea, and vomiting in the morning, collectively known as pregnancy reactions. These symptoms generally do not require special treatment. After 12 weeks of pregnancy, as the HCG level in the body decreases, the symptoms will disappear naturally and appetite will return to normal. But pregnant women should be reminded that not all vomiting is a reaction to early pregnancy. The combined effects of hormones and HCG cause pregnancy reactions in pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy. Each person will experience different physical changes in response to pregnancy depending on their physical fitness. In simple terms, different individuals will have different degrees of reaction. Symptoms of early pregnancy generally occur between 6 weeks after menstruation and 3 months of pregnancy. |
