Will breast fibroids recur after surgery?

Will breast fibroids recur after surgery?

Breast fibroadenomas are relatively common among women, especially young women. Although this is a benign tumor that can be removed surgically, some people are worried about recurrence after surgery. This type of problem cannot be ignored and requires good care. So will breast fibroids recur after surgery?

1. Breast fibroids are a common and frequently occurring disease among young women clinically. Local removal of breast fibroids may result in recurrence symptoms. Because surgery only removes the tumor, it cannot fundamentally eliminate the root cause of breast fibroadenoma. Breast fibroadenoma is caused by excessive estrogen secretion in the body, which stimulates excessive proliferation of breast fibrous tissue. If simply removing local breast fibroadenoma cannot fundamentally change the problem of estrogen and progesterone balance in the body, even after removal, recurrence or the need for a second surgery may occur within a longer period of time.

2. Breast fibroadenoma is a common benign breast tumor, which appears as a single or multiple lumps. The size of the lumps is generally a few millimeters to a few centimeters. The surface is smooth, the boundaries are clear, and they are easy to push. Breast fibroadenomas are generally treated surgically. After surgical treatment, some patients may still experience recurrence, especially those with multiple fibroadenomas. Therefore, after surgery, patients should still actively visit the general surgery department of a regular hospital and undergo regular follow-up examinations, including breast ultrasound examinations, to understand whether there is any recurrence.

3. Breast fibroids, like uterine fibroids, rely on women's own estrogen to grow. That is to say, many patients are relatively young women. And because the types of fibroids are also different, they need to be surgically removed after growing to a certain extent. If patients think that they are safe after surgery, they are completely wrong.
