Self-examination for cervical cancer

Self-examination for cervical cancer

If cervical cancer is not treated promptly, the mortality rate of cervical cancer will be greatly increased. Therefore, every woman should pay attention to the problem of cervical cancer and go to the hospital for regular uterine examinations. At the same time, cervical cancer will also show many symptoms on the patient's body. At this time, self-examination of cervical cancer is also very necessary. So what are the means and measures for self-examination of cervical cancer?

How to detect cervical cancer

1. Gynecological examination

A gynecological examination mainly checks the size, shape, texture and thickness of the cervix. These examinations can help determine whether there is a possibility of cervical cancer. The vulva, vagina and muscle tissue near the uterus should also be examined to confirm the previous judgment.

2. Cervical smear cytology examination

It is a routine gynecological examination, which is simple, easy, cost-effective, and the most important auxiliary examination and the preferred initial screening method for cancer prevention surveys.

3. Colposcopy

It can quickly detect lesions that are invisible to the naked eye and take biopsies from suspicious areas during colposcopy, which can significantly improve the accuracy of biopsies.

4. Iodine test and visual observation

This method is very simple and the price is very cheap. Although it is cheap, it can still detect 70% of lesions. At present, the World Health Organization has recommended that China adopt the naked eye observation method. After applying 3%-5% acetic acid solution to the cervix, observe the reaction of the cervical skin and then take a biopsy.

5. Pathological examination of cervical biopsy tissue

It is the basis for the diagnosis of cervical cancer. Accurate diagnostic results can provide doctors with reliable clinical basis to formulate treatment plans that are more suitable for the patient's condition and achieve twice the result with half the effort. Therefore, it is recommended that cervical erosion should be treated after a clear diagnosis. Do not blindly use medication regardless of the severity of the disease to avoid delaying the disease.

1. Self-examination for cervical cancer

1. Vaginal bleeding

Irregular vaginal bleeding, especially contact bleeding (i.e. bleeding after sexual intercourse or gynecological examination) and postmenopausal vaginal bleeding are the main symptoms of cervical cancer patients. Cauliflower-like bleeding of cervical cancer occurs earlier and the amount of bleeding is heavier.

2. Increased vaginal discharge

It is white and thin, watery, rice-water-like or bloody, with a fishy smell. When cancerous tissue ruptures and becomes infected, the secretions may be purulent and accompanied by a foul odor.

3. Late manifestations

Due to the infiltration and metastasis of the cancer, symptoms may appear in the corresponding parts of the body or even throughout the body, such as frequent urination, urgency, anal swelling, constipation, swelling and pain in the lower limbs, sciatica, hydronephrosis, renal failure, uremia, etc., eventually leading to systemic failure.

2. Clinical Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer

1. Colposcopy

Whenever the cervical smear cytology examination is grade III or above, a colposcopy and iodine test should be performed immediately to observe whether there is atypical epithelium or early cancer on the surface of the cervix and indicate the biopsy site.

For women with increased leucorrhea and vaginal contact bleeding, a simple, painless cervical cell scraping test can be used. 95% of early cancer cells can be found through cervical cell scraping.

3. Biopsy of the cervix and endocervical canal

The specific method is to take biopsies at four points, 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock, at the junction of the cervical squamous column. When lesions in the cervical canal are suspected, they should also be taken with forceps. Biopsy is the most reliable basis for diagnosing cervical cancer. Regardless of the early or late stage of the cancer, a biopsy must be performed to confirm the diagnosis.

Prevention of cervical cancer should pay attention to

(1) Promoting late marriage and fewer and better births

Delaying the age at which a couple begins having sex and reducing the number of births can both reduce the risk of cervical cancer.

(2) Actively prevent and treat cervical ulcers and chronic cervicitis

During delivery, be careful to avoid cervical lacerations. If lacerations occur, they should be repaired promptly.

(3) Pay attention to hygiene and menstrual hygiene

The frequency of sexual intercourse needs to be controlled, and it is strictly prohibited during menstruation and the postpartum period. Both parties should also pay great attention to the cleanliness of their private parts. It is best to take some safety measures and avoid having multiple life partners.

(4) Men with phimosis or prepuce that is too long should pay attention to local cleaning. It is best to undergo circumcision. This will not only reduce the risk of cervical cancer in their wives, but also prevent the occurrence of penile cancer in themselves.

Conclusion: It is said that once a woman gets married, she will never be able to get rid of gynecological diseases. How can we prevent the occurrence of cervical cancer in life? The above article has made a detailed introduction for everyone. Don’t be afraid or ashamed to see a doctor if you have the disease.
