1. Determine whether ovulation occurs and guide contraception

BBT should rise immediately after ovulation and remain at a high level for ≥ 11 days. If BBT rises in a step-like manner and the curve takes 3 days to reach a high level, or BBT rises steadily for < 11 days, it can be diagnosed as luteal phase insufficiency (LPD).

When the BBT of patients with primary amenorrhea is biphasic, uterine amenorrhea should be considered, such as congenital absence of uterus or genital tuberculosis causing destruction of the endometrium.

5 Calculating the appropriate time for endometrial biopsy

For patients with irregular cycles, in order to understand whether the endometrium has a secretory response and the function of the corpus luteum, an endometrial biopsy should be performed 2 to 3 days before the next menstrual period after the BBT rises.
