What is the reason for women's less armpit hair

The fact that women have less armpit hair is related to the secretion of hormones, and the time when armpit hair appears is different for every woman. Generally, the armpit hair will grow fully at the age of 17, and the density is related to the pores and the secretion of hormones. Pubic hair is one of the signs of sexual development, which generally coincides with the time when breasts begin to develop. Its growth can be divided into 5 stages:

Armpit hair appears relatively late and is usually the last to appear in the development of a woman's secondary sexual characteristics. Most of them don't grow until after the age of 17.

The growth of human hair is mainly controlled and restricted by androgens and estrogens, which have specific stimulating or inhibitory effects on the growth of hair in different parts of the body, so the distribution of hair in men and women is different.

Other primates rarely have this gender difference, and the mystery remains difficult to explain. For example, estrogen promotes hair growth, while androgen inhibits the growth of hair on both sides of the forehead. Why do some women have no pubic or armpit hair?

When pubic and axillary hair is extremely sparse or absent, it is called hypotrichosis, which occurs in about 2.5% of the population.
