How to catch up with the decrease of breast milk

A decrease in breast milk is not a good thing for children, because if there is too little breast milk and the amount of breast milk cannot be guaranteed for the child, the baby's development will be affected to a certain extent. For this reason, many mothers will take some measures to increase milk production when they find that their breast milk supply has decreased. There are many ways to increase milk production. Here are some effective ones for you!

1. Sucking and feeding frequently

When the baby sucks on his nipple, a substance called prolactin is secreted in the mother's body, which can promote the secretion of large amounts of breast milk. Therefore, you should let your baby suck more, even if the amount of milk is very small, you should persist. Breast milk is the best food for babies, and you should not give up on it just because of a small setback.

But it should be noted that you cannot suck for a long time. If you have little milk, 10 times a day is enough (6-8 times a day if you have plenty of milk), and do not put a burden on the nipple. When feeding, alternate between the two sides, feeding on one side for 10 minutes before switching to the other side.

2. Both foremilk and hindmilk should be sucked

Foremilk contains more water, sugar and protein, but less fat, and is not filling; hindmilk is rich in fat and is filling. Therefore, when breastfeeding, you must ensure that the baby gets both foremilk and hindmilk. If the breasts are soft after feeding, it means both foremilk and hindmilk have been consumed.

3. Drink more water

Breast milk is mostly composed of water. If the mother's body is dehydrated, the milk will become thick and the quantity will be small, so it is very necessary to replenish water. During the breastfeeding period, mothers should drink 5 liters of water every day in summer and 5 liters in winter. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that dandelion can promote lactation and improve blood circulation. Mothers may wish to drink some dandelion tea.

4. Adjust your diet

Eat at least two bowls of white rice every day. If you don't eat during breastfeeding, it may cause low blood sugar, resulting in insufficient breast milk secretion. If you think about it carefully, people in the past rarely ate meat, but after eating a few bowls of white rice, they would produce milk, which shows that meat is quite nutritious.

Glutinous rice wine, glutinous rice cakes, and rice cakes can also increase milk production. Mothers with low milk production may wish to eat some in moderation. But if you have plenty of milk, don't touch it.

In addition, you should appropriately supplement with foods rich in iron and protein, or foods that can promote blood circulation, such as soy products, milk, komatsuna and lotus root, potatoes, burdock, carrots, peanuts, taro and other root vegetables.

It is important to note that greasy foods such as fried dough sticks, French fries, desserts, coffee, etc. should be avoided as much as possible. After eating these foods, the milk will become thick and the taste will not be refreshing, and picky babies will not like to eat them.

In addition, don’t listen to the older generation and don’t eat any vegetables. Only by combining meat and vegetables well can the quality of breast milk be maintained.
