Why does the cesarean section scar itch?

Why does the cesarean section scar itch?

Women will have some scars on their skin after a caesarean section, and bacteria may enter during the suturing process, so it is particularly easy to have scar-like phenomena in the later stage. In rainy weather, the scars will itch due to the weather, and the scarred area will be more difficult to heal. So what is the reason for the itchy abdominal scars?

Caesarean section is a destructive surgery that will leave scars on the skin and uterus. If you get pregnant again, you need to wait for 1-2 years for the scar to soften. Most patients feel itchy skin wounds, and the itching period should be distinguished. If the skin of the caesarean section scar itches in the early stage, it is mostly caused by the gradual reduction of tension during the scab and wound healing process; if itching occurs in the later stage, it is mostly caused by the proliferation of scars caused by fibroblasts pulling on normal tissue wounds. Some patients are prone to itching on cloudy days and after rain.

1. Don’t be too nervous. If the scar is itchy, don’t be too nervous and think that there is something wrong with the wound. Because the wound needs to heal, new tissue will grow, and these tissues will be squeezed together, causing itching. In fact, when itching occurs, it means that the wound is about to heal, so this is a good phenomenon.

2. Do not scratch the wound. Some mothers feel that the wound is very itchy, so they can't help scratching it. But it should be noted that mothers should not scratch the wound with their hands, because their hands may not be clean, which can easily cause the wound to be infected. Secondly, they will accidentally remove the scab that has already formed on the wound, and the repaired epidermal cells exist on the scab. This will not only fail to relieve the itching, but will also make the wound more serious and difficult to heal.

3. Apply ointment. If the wound is really itchy, you may wish to use some topical ointment to relieve the itching. In addition, you also need to be careful not to let the sun shine directly on the wound and pay attention to the hygiene of the wound to avoid infection.
