Reasons for itching after giving birth

Reasons for itching after giving birth

Many mothers report that they experience itching down there after giving birth. There may be many possible causes for this, such as itching caused by the use of some chemicals after delivery, bad hygiene habits after delivery, germs, etc. If you feel unwell, you should seek medical attention promptly and do not take medication or use drugs for treatment on your own.

1. Itching caused by some chemicals used after childbirth

Drug allergy or chemical irritation Soap, condoms, Sanisol, mercurochrome, etc. can cause contact dermatitis due to direct irritation or allergy, and itching symptoms may occur. "Fixed drug rash" caused by taking drugs in women with allergic constitution often occurs at the junction of the skin and mucous membrane of the vulva. In addition to local itching, it may be complicated by erosion and exudation. Vulvar itching may also occur if allergic reactions and contact dermatitis occur when using drugs for vaginal washing or vaginal insertion.

2. Bad hygiene habits after childbirth cause itching

If you do not pay attention to the local cleaning of the vulva, sebum, sweat, menstruation, vaginal secretions, and even urine and feces will soak into the vulva for a long time and cause itching: using rubber or plastic menstrual belts during menstruation and wearing non-breathable chemical fiber underwear at other times can induce itching due to the accumulation of damp heat. It should be noted that when cleaning the vulva every day, it is more appropriate to use the Ph4 Jiaoyan weak acid formula female care liquid.

3. Itching caused by some germs

3.1 Trichomonas vaginitis

The vaginal discharge increases and is yellow-white, occasionally with yellow-green pus, often foamy and fishy, and may be mixed with blood when the lesion is severe; followed by low back pain, frequent urination, painful urination, vulvar itching, and dull pain in the lower abdomen. The vaginal mucosa is red and swollen, with scattered bleeding spots or strawberry-shaped protrusions, which occasionally cause pain during intercourse.

3.2. Fungal vaginitis

The prominent symptoms of this disease are increased leucorrhea and severe itching of the vulva and vagina. When the symptoms are severe, the patient may be restless, suffer from extreme pain, and may also experience frequent urination, painful urination, and pain during intercourse. The leucorrhea is white, thick and resembling dregs of rice, the vaginal mucosa is highly edematous, the vulva is burning and there is white flaky film adhering to it which is easy to peel off. Underneath is an eroded base of the damaged mucosa or a shallow ulcer. In severe cases, ecchymosis may remain, which is a typical symptom of this disease.

What to do if you have vaginal itching

1. Boil garlic in water and use it to wash the itchy area. Take an appropriate amount of garlic, boil it with clean water, and then use the boiled water to clean the affected area. Apply 2 to 3 times a day, and the itching symptoms below will be relieved after a few days.

2. Keep your private parts dry and clean. A humid environment will allow bacteria to multiply and breed. When the vagina is infected with bacteria, it will not only cause itching symptoms, but may also cause other gynecological diseases. Therefore, keeping the vagina clean and dry is also a way to solve the itching of women.

3. Wash your underwear thoroughly. A large amount of bacteria accumulated in underwear can also cause vulvar itching, so underwear should be washed thoroughly. When washing, you can use boiling water and let the clothes dry in direct sunlight, which can achieve the effect of sterilization. You should pay more attention to personal hygiene and should not wash it with underwear.

4. Change underwear frequently. Used underwear, basins and towels should be boiled in boiling water for 30 minutes or soaked in saturated salt water for 1 to 4 hours to disinfect. This is because Candida has poor resistance to heat and will die after being heated to 60°C in 1 hour.

5. Avoid drinking alcohol and eating spicy food. Drinking alcohol and eating spicy foods may cause more severe itching, so when itching occurs below, you should reduce drinking and eating less spicy foods.
