How to stimulate uterine contractions most effectively

How to stimulate uterine contractions most effectively

Once a pregnant woman reaches her due date, she will be particularly worried that the baby will be born without preparation. Before the baby is born, there are many signs in the mother's body, among which uterine contractions are one of the most obvious symptoms. However, uterine contractions are a symptom that women will experience in the late stages of pregnancy, and uterine contractions that occur before the baby is born will have a significant frequency. Therefore, in order to make the baby born faster, uterine contractions can be stimulated. But how to stimulate uterine contractions most effectively?

How to effectively stimulate uterine contractions

For expectant mothers who show no signs of labor by the due date, studies have shown that breast massage can stimulate the synthesis and release of the mother's own oxytocin, thereby strengthening uterine contractions and promoting natural childbirth. Moreover, breast massage is a method that is closer to the natural physiology of pregnant women. It has a certain self-regulating effect. It is simple, easy, safe and effective. Compared with other methods of inducing labor, it is safe and has no side effects.

Breast massage method:

① When the baby is full-term, the expectant mother herself should hold a hot wet cloth (28-30℃) and massage both breasts alternately, 15 minutes on each side, twice a day.

② Use your index and middle fingers to hold the breast, and use the tip of your thumb to gently rub the nipple and areola, for 15 minutes on each side, alternating left and right, twice a day.

There are a few points to note:

1. If your abdomen becomes hard or you experience intermittent abdominal pain after massaging your breasts, it means the massage is effective. At this time, do not stop, continue massaging. Because once the massage stops, the secretion of oxytocin will decrease, and it will be particularly difficult to stimulate uterine contractions by massaging the breasts again.

2. When you first start breast massage, you may experience strong uterine contractions. This is a sign of sensitive uterine contractions. You should stop the massage and wait until the contractions ease before continuing. Generally, after repeating it several times, things will gradually return to normal.

3. For those who are not sensitive to breast massage, it will take a long time to see results and you need to be patient.

4. For obese women or those with inverted nipples, the massage effect is poor and they need to persist for a longer time.

5. Pregnant women who have not yet reached their due date should not perform the above massage to avoid premature birth.

What to do if you have frequent uterine contractions

(1) Psychological therapy can relieve uterine contraction pain, establish a good nurse-patient relationship, and make mothers feel safe and trustful. Due to the implementation of family planning in my country, society and families give mothers great preferential treatment and care, which to some extent causes them to be overly cautious. Most first-time mothers lack knowledge about childbirth and are afraid of giving birth. Therefore, after a woman is admitted to the hospital for delivery, the words and actions of the midwife will directly affect the woman's psychology. This requires midwives to not only have excellent professional and technical skills, but also have good psychological quality, a kind attitude, gentle operation, active observation of the labor process, and patient answering questions.

(2) Eliminate the anxiety, tension and fear of the mother. These factors can make the mother more sensitive to pain and aggravate the pain. Tension is an important pathogenic factor clinically. The mother's mental tension can inhibit the cerebral cortex through the central nervous system, making uterine contractions weak and the cervix difficult to dilate, thereby prolonging the labor process. Clinical observations show that 50% of pregnant women suffer from anxiety and 75% suffer from tension and fear. Therefore, we need to give more explanations at work, tell them the progress of labor and the condition of the fetus, and introduce common knowledge about childbirth.

(3) Use distraction, massage, and deep breathing to reduce labor pain, and encourage women who have strong tolerance during labor. More care should be taken for those with weak tolerance and high sensitivity to pain. When uterine contractions are too strong and frequent, talk to the mother more to distract her attention from the pain, or touch her abdomen, massage her lumbar region, and ask her to take a deep breath during labor. At the same time, tell her to empty her bladder in time, eat a high-calorie diet, maintain her physical strength, so that she can be in high spirits and in high spirits to promote pain resistance.
