Symptoms of insufficient luteal secretion

Symptoms of insufficient luteal secretion

The corpus luteum is also an important hormone in the female ovaries, and the corpus luteum mainly refers to the excess follicle tissue after the female ovaries produce eggs. The corpus luteum is also involved in the endocrine circulation system in the female body. The most important thing is that the corpus luteum mainly promotes the secretion of estrogen and progesterone in the female body, so the corpus luteum has an important influence on a woman's fertility. What symptoms will a woman experience if she has insufficient corpus luteum secretion?

Symptoms of corpus luteum insufficiency

The corpus luteum is the remnant of the follicle left after the mature egg is discharged. Its function is to help secrete estrogen and progesterone, so that the endometrium continues to grow and prepares for the implantation of the fertilized egg. Poor luteal function, including luteal insufficiency (luteal dysgenesis) and incomplete luteal atrophy.

Luteal insufficiency is manifested by a short menstrual cycle (less than 21 days), heavy bleeding before menstruation or a prolonged menstrual period, continuous secretion of brown discharge, infertility or habitual miscarriage, etc.

Corpus luteum deficiency, also known as corpus luteum dysgenesis, has the following five main manifestations:

1. Insufficient secretion of progesterone leads to shortened menstrual cycle.

2. Often a small amount of red vaginal discharge occurs a few days before menstruation, and then menstruation officially comes.

3. Although the basal body temperature is biphasic, it rises or falls in a step-like manner, and the luteal phase is shortened to 10-12 days.

4. If pregnant, most patients will have early miscarriage, and a few patients will have infertility.

5. Insufficient corpus luteum leads to insufficient duration of high temperature. For example, the high temperature lasts from the 14th day to the 21st day of menstruation, which only lasts for 8 days. Generally speaking, a high temperature lasting less than 12 days indicates luteal insufficiency.

The clinical manifestations of corpus luteum insufficiency are:

1. The menstrual cycle is normal, but the period is prolonged, which can be up to 9-10 days or even longer, but the amount is not too much. That is, 2-3 days after the menstruation is over, the vagina will drip again.

2. Secretion of brown secretions. During the days when there is this kind of vaginal secretion, there will be a dull pain in the lower left abdomen, as if there is air that is not flowing and is blocked there.

3. Some women may experience ovulation bleeding (a small amount of bleeding between two menstrual periods) and lower abdominal pain.

4. The basal body temperature is biphasic but decreases slowly, and often has not dropped to the normal proliferation level during the menstrual period (the body temperature during the menstrual period is still in the high temperature period).

Symptoms of luteal insufficiency

Luteal insufficiency refers to the insufficient endocrine function of the luteum formed after ovarian ovulation, resulting in insufficient secretion of progesterone, insufficient secretion and transformation of the endometrium, and ovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

The main symptoms of patients with luteal insufficiency are as follows:

1. Menstrual disorders: Patients with luteal insufficiency will experience shortened menstrual cycles (less than 28 days), increased frequency of menstruation, and heavy premenstrual bleeding.

2. Infertility: Women in their childbearing period will find it more difficult to conceive, or they may easily suffer miscarriage if they become pregnant.

3. The endometrium cannot produce normal secretory response, and the endometrial response is unbalanced.

4. Basal body temperature: The day after a woman ovulates, the corpus luteum is formed in the ovaries. The secretion of progesterone by the corpus luteum will cause the body temperature to rise by about 0.6 degrees Celsius, causing the body temperature to fluctuate between high and low phases. The high temperature period lasts about 14 days. However, patients with luteal insufficiency will experience a slower rise in body temperature, or a lower rise, usually less than 0.5°C, and the temperature rise will only last about 9 days.
