My stomach still hurts on the fourth day after giving birth

It is normal to still have abdominal pain on the fourth day after delivery. Generally, the pain will reach its peak within 24 hours, and then the symptoms will decrease day by day. The symptoms will gradually disappear in about a week. Uterine contractions will also occur on the fourth day after delivery, and it is normal to have pain. If the symptoms are more severe, you will need to go to the hospital for further examination to see if it causes infection or other diseases.

Is it normal to still have abdominal pain on the fourth day after delivery? Abdominal pain is normal after delivery because it is the contraction of the uterus that can promote the elimination of blood stasis. If the pain is severe and persistent, it is best to go to the hospital for a follow-up examination to rule out puerperal infection and receive treatment as appropriate.

Postpartum pain is often confused with other postpartum pains and is easily misunderstood by many people. In fact, the pain of uterine contractions can be felt. Postpartum mothers can try to feel whether the frequency of the pain comes in waves and whether the duration of a single attack is too long. In fact, intermittent uterine contractions after delivery can cause pain similar to that of childbirth. The pain lasts about one to two minutes. Usually, the postpartum pain lasts for two to three days, and for some mothers it lasts for about a week.

On the other hand, since uterine contractions will enhance the discharge of lochia, if there are too many blood clots or placental tissue left in the uterus after delivery, the uterus will also try to accelerate the discharge of the above objects through contractions; mothers with multiple births or excessive amniotic fluid will also clearly feel the symptoms of postpartum pain, but these are normal reactions of the uterus and can help the mother's body recover as soon as possible.

On the contrary, the abdominal pain experienced by most postpartum mothers may be the discomfort caused by the confinement diet. In the past, when we encountered mothers complaining of postpartum pain in clinical practice, we found, after examination and observation, that it was caused by the diet during the confinement period. This is because the diet during confinement is usually too greasy; or the diet is not usually exposed to mothers, such as too high protein content, which may also make mothers feel bloated. Finally, the pain of bloating and postpartum pain will confuse many postpartum mothers, who mistakenly regard bloating as an explanation for postpartum pain. Because postpartum discomfort or pain symptoms accompanied by gastrointestinal problems must be improved through diet.

Some doctors prescribe laxatives after childbirth to help mothers defecate smoothly, but some mothers will experience diarrhea and abdominal cramps under the stimulation of laxatives, and may mistakenly think that this is postpartum pain.
