The best time to check fallopian tubes

Most of the time, the fallopian tube examination is done because the fallopian tube is blocked, and it is a female's normal pregnancy that is affected. The fallopian tube is only checked when infertility is checked. In fact, the fallopian tube is also a very important organ for women. It is best to check it during the ovulation period. So what is the best time to check the fallopian tube?

Blockage or obstruction of the fallopian tube is currently one of the important causes of female infertility. The fallopian tube is the passage between the ovaries and the uterus, which determines whether the sperm can meet the egg smoothly and is the key to conception. Traditional fallopian tube ventilation and fluid permeation tests can make a rough judgment on whether the fallopian tubes are unobstructed. Hysterosalpingography under X-ray can not only identify the site of tubal obstruction, but also more intuitively display certain lesions of the fallopian tube and endometrium. Ultrasonic hysterosalpingography is simple, safe and highly accurate.

Hysteroscopic tubal catheterization and insufflation is an accurate diagnosis of proximal tubal obstruction and has a therapeutic effect. The choice of examination method needs to be determined by a professional doctor based on your own situation. Please join me in learning about the common questions about fallopian tube examination.

What is the best time to check for fallopian tube obstruction?

The time for checking fallopian tube blockage should generally be chosen to be within 3 to 7 days after the end of menstruation. For sisters with irregular menstruation, it can be delayed to 10 days. For patients with particularly irregular menstruation, such as amenorrhea, it can be done at any time, but the possibility of pregnancy must be ruled out. For a very small number of sisters, there will be a small amount of vaginal bleeding in the first month after pregnancy. Therefore, women with scanty menstruation or amenorrhea must rule out the possibility of pregnancy.

Four ways to check for fallopian tube blockage

1. Fallopian tube permeability test

Also known as hydrotubation, hydrotubation is a procedure in which a tube is inserted into the uterine cavity of the person being examined, and then 20 ml of medicine is injected through the tube. The medicine is generally saline solution plus antibiotics. The medicine flows from the uterine cavity through the fallopian tubes and finally reaches the pelvic cavity. According to the characteristic that the uterine cavity can only hold 5ml of volume, if the entire 20ml of solution can be pushed in smoothly without resistance, and no liquid flows back into the syringe after releasing the needle, it indicates that the solution has passed through the uterine cavity and fallopian tube cavity into the abdominal cavity, indicating that the fallopian tube is unobstructed; if the resistance is very large, and more than 10ml of solution flows back into the syringe after releasing the needle, it indicates that the fallopian tube is blocked; if most of the liquid can be injected despite resistance, and only a small amount flows back, it indicates that the fallopian tube is unobstructed.

Advantages: The fallopian tube permeability test is simple, does not require special equipment, has no obvious side effects, is low-cost, injects antibiotics and fiber-dissolving liquids, has therapeutic effects, can be repeated many times, and is currently a commonly used inspection method.

Disadvantages: Since the entire process relies on manual operation by the doctor, it may cause false negative and false positive diagnostic results. The permeability test cannot determine the side or exact location of fallopian tube obstruction, nor can it observe the internal conditions of the uterus and fallopian tubes. It is only suitable as an initial screening method.

2. Hysterosalpingography under X-ray

Hysterosalpingography can show the size, shape and position of the uterine cavity and the shape of the fallopian tubes on the fluorescent screen and X-ray images. If the fallopian tube is unobstructed, the image extends beyond the fimbria of the fallopian tube, and the diffusion of contrast agent in the pelvic cavity can be seen on the X-ray film at the same time.

Advantages: It can clearly show the location, degree and nature of fallopian tube blockage. It is currently the most reliable method for diagnosing fallopian tube patency with an accuracy rate of over 98%. And the inspection cost is low.

Disadvantages: It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to iodine, those in the inflammatory stage, severe cardiopulmonary disease or systemic disease, and should be used with caution during menstruation and after curettage.
