Will breasts still develop at 18?

In fact, it takes a long time for women's breasts to develop. Women's breasts will begin to develop when they are eight or nine years old. When women have their first menstruation, the speed of breast development will accelerate. This means that women have entered puberty. The period of puberty is the fastest period for women's breasts to develop. So will breasts continue to develop after the age of 18?

Girls' breast development usually begins when their nipples begin to grow, around the age of 9-10 years old. When the age of 10-11 years old, the breast hyperplasia forms a breast nucleus, which feels like a nodule or a small lump and is painful when pressed.

At the age of 12-13, the mammary ducts and subcutaneous fat increase, the breasts gradually become firm and elastic, and the color of the areola and nipples becomes darker.

The mature breast is blue and spherical in shape and is located between the 3rd to 6th ribs. The nipples have an erectile function and become hard when touched, which is conducive to breastfeeding.

The growth and development of the breasts are mainly affected by a variety of hormones in the reproductive endocrine axis, such as gonadotropin and prolactin secreted by the pituitary gland, and estrogen and progesterone secreted by the ovaries; in addition, the hormones secreted by the adrenal glands and thyroid glands, and growth hormone secreted by the pituitary gland are also needed for the breasts to develop fully and completely.

If the functions and regulation of the above organs, glands, and hormone levels are impaired, it will affect the development of the breasts. Breast problems are not an isolated phenomenon, but one of the manifestations of the entire secondary sexual characteristics. Therefore, when judging whether breast development is normal, it must be analyzed in conjunction with other secondary sexual characteristics. If other sexual characteristics develop normally but the breasts do not, it is likely that there is a problem with the breasts themselves, such as the breasts being insensitive to the above-mentioned hormones, or it may be that the level of a specific hormone is abnormal. If all secondary sexual characteristics have not developed, then you need to go to the hospital for a thorough examination.

Breast development is also affected by many factors such as genetics, nutrition, climatic conditions, and environment. Doctors must take all of these into consideration before making a judgment and treatment.

Girls are very concerned about breast development. Some worry about developing too early, while others worry about developing too late. There are great individual differences in when girls' breasts begin to develop. Some girls begin to develop breasts when they are only 8 or 9 years old, while others do not begin to develop breasts until they are 16 or later. Most girls begin to develop breasts between the ages of 9 and 14.

During development, the mammary glands that make up the breasts and the surrounding fat tissue form a button-like bulge on the nipple and the surrounding areola, causing the nipple to bulge and grow larger, and then gradually become fuller, finally developing into the shape of an adult breast. For girls, not only does the age at which breast development begins vary from person to person, but the speed at which breasts develop also varies. Some girls' breasts develop later but develop faster, while some girls' breasts develop earlier but develop more slowly.

Girls whose breasts develop early are often embarrassed about it, so they try to hide their breasts deliberately. Some of them lower their heads and hunch their chests when walking, or wear tight clothes to bind their chests in order to cover up their early developed breasts, which restricts the normal development of the breasts and thorax. The practice of breast binding will compress the breasts and cause the nipples to be sunken, resulting in breast hypoplasia, which will cause difficulties in lactation and breastfeeding in the future and can also easily cause breast diseases.
