Breast hardening during lactation

Breast hardening during lactation

Many people often encounter the problem of hardened breasts during breastfeeding. In fact, there are many types of hardened breasts. Swelling, increased milk supply, and failure to feed the child in time can lead to hardened breasts. Timely breastfeeding and using a breast pump can relieve breast changes in time. In addition, inflammation and other diseases in the breast cannot be ruled out, which all need to be identified and treated.

What is lactation breast care

Breasts are one of the most important parts of breastfeeding. Breast care during lactation is critical to successful feeding, especially in the first few months. So how should breastfeeding mothers care for their breasts? What will be the consequences if no timely care is given? Potential problems Some mothers may run into difficulties when breastfeeding, however many of these problems can be avoided if the breasts are properly cared for or if the mother has certain techniques.

How to care for breasts during lactation

During lactation, the breasts begin to secrete milk continuously, providing the best nutritional food for the baby. Lactation is the most special and important period in the life of a woman's breasts. Good breast care during lactation is beneficial to both the mother and the baby. Breast care during lactation should not only protect the health of breast tissue, but also ensure smooth breast milk secretion.

Take preventive measures:

1. Check your own nipples

2. Check if there is any redness, swelling or cracking on the skin around the breasts

3. Check whether there is pus discharge or color change at the ruptured area.

Because once there is a wound on the skin, bacteria in the environment can easily enter the skin through the body's natural protective layer and cause infection. Regular self-examination can prevent serious infections from occurring in time.

It is important to take good care of the nipples. During breastfeeding, the nipples are soaked with milk due to the baby's sucking, and the friction from the underwear can easily cause nipple cracking, damage, or eczema. Therefore, it is very important to take good care of the nipples. Before and after each breastfeeding, you should gently wash the nipples and areola with warm water to keep the area clean and dry. If the nipple is broken, you can use a breast pump to extract the milk and put it in a bottle to feed the baby, or place a bell-shaped breast pump on the areola and let the baby suck indirectly to make the broken nipple easier to heal.

Develop good breastfeeding habits. The frequency and timing of breastfeeding should be regular. Breastfeeding should be done at regular times and alternately between the two breasts to prevent asymmetry of the breasts. Each breastfeeding should last for 10 to 15 minutes, and any unsucked milk should be sucked out to prevent milk retention from causing breast lumps, thereby preventing the occurrence of mastitis. In addition, emptying the breasts is also beneficial to promoting milk secretion.

Wear a suitable bra. During lactation, the breasts become full and plump, and the weight of the breasts increases suddenly. A suitable bra can support the breasts, reduce excessive stretching of the breast ligaments, and prevent breast sagging. During lactation, nipples often leak milk, so you should choose a loose, soft, and absorbent bra to avoid damage to the nipples caused by friction with hard objects.
