Almost no blood during menstruation

Almost no blood during menstruation

Under normal circumstances, on the first day of menstruation, the amount of blood is very heavy, and you have to change sanitary napkins many times. After the third and fourth days, the amount of menstrual blood will gradually decrease. However, some people have basically no blood when they just start menstruation, and the menstrual cycle lasts very short. This is an abnormal phenomenon. It may be due to insufficient menstrual blood volume or some other diseases in the body, as well as irregular menstruation.

If the menstrual cycle is basically normal, but the menstrual flow is significantly reduced, or even stops with a few drops, or is significantly reduced, or even the menstrual period is shortened to less than two days, and the menstrual flow is also small, it is called oligomenorrhea, also known as scanty menstruation. It is generally believed that menstrual volume less than 30 ml is equivalent to scanty menstruation in Western medicine.

The menstrual cycle is normal, the menstrual flow is very little, or even just a few drops. There are also cases where the menstrual period is shortened to less than two days and the menstrual flow is also very little. These are the key points for the diagnosis of this disease. This disease is often a precursor to amenorrhea.

Oligomenorrhea may be associated with menstrual cycle abnormalities, such as scanty early or late menstruation.

If oligomenorrhea is caused by oral contraceptives or intramuscular contraceptive injections, the medication should be stopped and the disease can be treated according to the discussion and treatment of this disease.

The diagnosis of oligomenorrhea generally refers to two or more consecutive occurrences. If a woman has had normal menstruation but suddenly has less menstruation, she should be aware of whether it is a sign of threatened miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy or a small amount of vaginal bleeding due to ectopic pregnancy. Further examinations are necessary to differentiate between the two.

Be careful if your menstrual blood volume is too small

Under normal circumstances, the amount of menstrual bleeding is about 60 ml. Less than 30 ml is too little, and more than 80 ml is too much. How do you know whether your menstrual flow is normal? Sanitary napkins can help us. Generally speaking, the dosage for each cycle should not exceed two packs (10 tablets/pack). If more than three packs are used and each tablet is soaked, it is menorrhagia; if less than one pack is used each time and the amount of blood on each tablet is very small, it is oligomenorrhea. Both situations are abnormal.

Generally speaking, light menstrual blood flow is caused by low estrogen levels. Estrogen stimulates the thickening of the endometrium in preparation for conception. If conception does not occur, the proliferating endometrium will shed and bleed to form menstruation. Low estrogen levels in the body can cause the endometrium to not grow thick enough and result in less menstrual bleeding, which can affect conception in the future.

However, for girls shortly after their menarche, the secretion of estrogen in their bodies has not yet reached a balanced and stable state, so the amount of menstrual blood is generally not much, and it is normal for menstruation to be early or late. Even after forming a regular menstrual cycle or a relatively stable amount of bleeding, emotional tension, environmental changes, increased psychological pressure, or sudden stimulation may cause temporary endocrine disorders, increasing or decreasing estrogen secretion and increasing or decreasing menstrual blood volume. As long as the above temporary factors disappear, menstruation will return to normal.

Another situation is caused by malnutrition. Some girls are picky eaters and have a weak body; others deliberately reduce their food intake in order to lose weight, resulting in insufficient nutrition. However, the body develops rapidly during adolescence, and heavy learning tasks and high levels of activity consume more energy, requiring adequate nutrition and calories. If the nutrients absorbed are not enough to meet the body's needs, the body will produce a defensive reaction, which may also cause too little menstrual blood flow or even amenorrhea.

This situation not only causes poor development of the reproductive system such as the uterus, laying the hidden danger of future infertility, but also causes a decline in the body's immune function, creating conditions for the invasion of diseases. Adolescent girls should learn more about health care and must not harm their bodies due to ignorance.

If the amount of menstrual blood continues to be too small after the menstrual cycle stabilizes, and it is not caused by nutritional deficiencies, and at the same time, it is found that the body development is not ideal, such as the breasts and buttocks are not obviously raised, you should be alert and go to the hospital as soon as possible to check the estrogen level. If you find that your estrogen level is low, you need to find out the reason. Most of the time, it is caused by diseases of the endocrine system. Finding out the cause and treating it, and supplementing estrogen under the guidance of a doctor, can change the menstrual condition.
