How to clean the stitches in the lower part of the mother

Caesarean sections definitely require stitches, and even some natural births require stitches, and there is a recovery period after the stitches. The entire recovery period will affect normal life, especially the wound cannot come into contact with water, but it is not impossible to clean it. Some special methods need to be used, and it is also very important to ensure the underlying cleanliness. So, how do you clean the stitches on a woman’s vagina after she’s given birth? Let’s take a look below.

Women who give birth naturally either have episiotomy wounds or lacerations, both of which need to be sutured.

In the hospital, nurses will flush with potassium permanganate twice a day. It is also important to do your own cleaning and care when you return home. Before I was discharged from the hospital, the nurse reminded me to flush every day and once after defecation. I kept this instruction in mind. You can fill a mineral water bottle with warm water of suitable temperature, sit on the toilet, lift your legs and rinse downwards.

In the first few days, I needed my family's help to lift my legs, but later I could do it by myself and it became more convenient. If you keep flushing the wound every day, it will heal faster. Please note here that the water must be warm boiled water that has been cooled down. Do not use tap water to rinse the wound. The tap water contains bacteria which are not good for the wound.

The location of the wound from normal delivery determines that it takes more time to recover, so we must not wear plastic underwear just to restore our body shape. The tight plastic underwear is airtight and is even more detrimental to wound recovery.

In addition, try to breastfeed while lying down during the confinement period, and do not practice breastfeeding while sitting too early. Doing so can easily cause tearing of the wound from natural birth, which will increase the pain of the new mother and slow down recovery.
