Why is there still no movement after 39 weeks?

Generally speaking, a woman is considered full-term when she reaches the 37th week of pregnancy, and the baby may be born at any time. However, some people still have no movement until the 39th week. In fact, 39 weeks is not yet the due date, so it is normal that there is no delivery. If the placenta is not aged, you can wait. However, if the due date has passed, it is best to go to the hospital for regular prenatal check-ups and seek timely treatment for any abnormalities.

4 ways to induce labor naturally at 39 weeks of pregnancy

1. Exercise to induce labor

There are many forms of exercise-induced labor. As long as the exercise is performed properly, it usually has no side effects and is a relatively safe method of inducing labor. You can consult a professional doctor for specific methods, or try the following two exercise methods to induce labor:

Take a walk once in the morning and once in the afternoon, each time for about 30 minutes. (Suitable for all expectant mothers)

Climb the stairs slowly several times a day. (Suitable for expectant mothers who will not breathe too hard and will not cause abnormal uterine contractions)

In the later stages of pregnancy (especially after 37 weeks), if the prenatal check-up is normal (fetal weight exceeds 2500 grams, the expectant mother has no pregnancy complications, etc.), it is recommended that the expectant mother should prepare for the upcoming delivery and do some exercise. You can choose to take a brisk walk in the garden or an outdoor environment with fresh air. Expectant mothers must pay attention to rest so as not to feel tired. You can climb stairs, 200 steps each time, 2-3 times a day.

2. Diet to induce labor

You can make some adjustments to your diet to strengthen uterine contractions and help induce labor. For example, oats are smooth and have a significant effect in inducing labor; certain ingredients contained in the stems of purslane and leeks can excite the uterus and increase the contraction of uterine smooth muscle.

Recipe for inducing labor: Dongmi Lai Congee

Ingredients: Amaranth, brown rice, a little salt and appropriate amount of water.

Preparation: Put clean water and brown rice into a pot, cook until the porridge is almost done, add amaranth and salt, and boil over high heat.

Efficacy: Clears away heat, lubricates the orifices, and facilitates delivery.

3. Bathing to induce labor

Take a warm shower every day, especially repeatedly rinsing the bulging abdomen from the upper part of the belly. While rinsing, gently stroke the abdomen with your palms.

Adjust the bathroom temperature to a comfortable level for your whole body. You can increase the number of baths to 2-3 times a day, but be careful not to let the water be too hot or too cold. Each bath should not last more than 15 minutes.

4. Nipple stimulation to induce labor

Use a warm, wet towel to gently apply to the nipples and areola for 1 hour every morning, noon and evening, and be sure to be gentle. Alternate between each side for 15 minutes. When contractions occur, you can pause. Wait until the contractions disappear before proceeding.

Stimulating the nipples and areola causes the body to release vasopressin, which releases endogenous oxytocin, which can cause the uterus to contract. This ancient method of inducing labor is started at the 39th week of pregnancy and is a very effective way to prevent delayed pregnancy. However, excessive stimulation can cause rigid contractions of the uterus, and there is a risk of fetal hypoxia and uterine rupture, so the operation must be performed with caution.
