How to treat breast spasm

How to treat breast spasm

In life, many women have some breast diseases. Many women often feel breast pain, especially for some women who are about to have their periods. Before the menstruation comes, they always feel breast pain. After the menstruation comes, this phenomenon will get better. Women with breast hyperplasia will feel cramping pain, so how to treat breast spasm?

The structure of the milk duct

The breast is mainly composed of glands, ducts, adipose tissue and fibrous tissue.

The mammary gland is composed of 15 to 20 lobes, each lobe is divided into several lobules, and each lobule is composed of 10 to 100 alveoli. The alveoli are closely arranged around the small milk ducts, and their openings are connected to the small milk ducts. Many small milk ducts merge into interlobular milk ducts, and multiple interlobular milk ducts merge into a lactiferous duct of an entire glandular lobe. There are 15 to 20 lactiferous ducts, arranged radially with the nipple as the center, converging at the areola, and opening at the nipple, called the lactiferous foramen. The lactiferous duct is narrower at the nipple, and then expands into an ampulla, called the lactiferous sinus, which can store milk. The opening of the lactiferous duct is composed of stratified squamous epithelial cells, the narrow part is composed of transitional epithelium, the ducts at all levels below the ampulla are composed of double-layer columnar epithelium or single-layer columnar epithelium, the terminal ducts near the alveoli are composed of cuboidal epithelium, and the alveoli are lined with cuboidal epithelium.

Lactiferous ducts, interlobular ducts and small lactiferous ducts are collectively called mammary ducts.

2What to do if your breast ducts spasm

If you have mammary duct spasm, you should pay attention to whether it is during breastfeeding. Mammary duct spasm is a common symptom during breastfeeding, which is local breast pain near the nipple and areola.

It is recommended that you should avoid breastfeeding for a long time during the lactation period. Each time should generally not exceed 20 minutes. Before breastfeeding, you should massage the areola to stimulate lactation before starting breastfeeding. If you are not breastfeeding, you should pay attention to local hot compresses to relieve pain, pay attention to whether there is tenderness and fever, consider whether it may be caused by inflammation, and treat it appropriately with anti-inflammatory treatment.

3 Functions of the mammary ducts

The main function of the mammary ducts is the secretion and storage of milk.

When some mammary ducts are blocked, milk will accumulate in the breast and cause milk scabies. If it is not eliminated in time and the nipple is damaged, bacteria will take the opportunity to invade and cause infection, forming mastitis. Mastitis manifests as lumps and tenderness in the breast. When mastitis occurs, the mother will have a high fever and aggravated breast pain. The breasts will be full because milk cannot be discharged, and the skin on the breast surface will become very shiny.

Protection measures:

1. Remove the milk crust on the nipple surface in time to avoid congestion in the breast caused by poor milk discharge.

2. Allow your baby to finish breastfeeding each time. If the baby does not finish breastfeeding, you can massage with your hands or use a breast pump to squeeze out the remaining milk.

3. Try not to let your baby sleep with the nipple in his mouth, as this may cause the baby to cut and bite the nipple and induce infection.

4. Keep your emotions stable and in a happy mood.
