Is it normal to have an accelerated heart rate during pregnancy?

Pregnancy is a stage that every female friend pays more attention to. On the one hand, the body is constantly changing during pregnancy. At the same time, various pregnancy checkups are required, and special attention should be paid to nutrition in the diet, all for the sake of physical health and the healthy development of the baby. Some pregnant women experience accelerated heartbeats and panic, and are very worried, thinking that something bad is happening in their body. So what should they do?

During pregnancy, a series of changes occur in the maternal circulatory system to adapt to the growth and development of the fetus. In the late stages of pregnancy, the body's blood volume increases by 40% to 50% compared to when you were not pregnant, the heart rate increases by 10 to 15 beats per minute, and the heart's output increases by 25% to 30%. That is to say, the heart's workload is significantly increased compared to when you were not pregnant. In addition, in the late pregnancy, the uterus enlarges, causing the fibrous muscles to rise and push the heart to the upper left. In addition, the increase in weight of the pregnant woman and the vigorous metabolism further increase the burden on the heart. The body must increase the heart rate and stroke volume to complete the excess work. Increase lung ventilation by deepening and speeding up your breathing to take in more oxygen and expel more carbon dioxide. A normal heart has a certain reserve capacity to cope with the increased burden.

If you experience palpitations and shortness of breath, don't panic. You can relieve the symptoms by resting for a while. You can also lie on your side and take a nap for a while. Be careful not to lie on your back to prevent supine hypotension syndrome.

If there is no history of heart disease before pregnancy, and palpitations and shortness of breath occur in the last three months of pregnancy and cannot be relieved by rest, the possibility of peripartum cardiomyopathy should be considered. The palpitations and shortness of breath of peripartum cardiomyopathy mainly occur at night. The patient often cannot fall asleep in the middle of the night due to chest tightness and has to sit up to breathe, or often feels chest pain that is unrelated to exertion. If the above situation occurs, you should consult a doctor immediately.

Symptoms of early pregnancy

1. Easy to get tired

In the early stages of pregnancy, many women feel tired, lack energy, and want to sleep. But this period will not last too long and will pass quickly. Generally speaking, women who have enough sex life but still do not have menstruation after one week of menstrual cycle should go to the hospital to check their urine to see if they are pregnant.

2. Changes in appetite

Some women begin to experience a change in appetite shortly after their menstrual period (1-2 weeks). The things that I usually like to eat, I don’t like to eat them anymore. I won’t like the food I’ve eaten once the second time. Some people simply don’t want to eat or even feel like vomiting, and some people crave something sour. Generally, after half a month to a month, these symptoms will disappear naturally.

3. Breast changes

After pregnancy, under the joint stimulation of estrogen and progesterone, at the beginning of pregnancy, the breasts gradually grow larger, the color of the nipples and areola deepens, and dark brown nodules appear around the nipples. After 12 weeks, a small amount of clear milk will be secreted.

4. Stopping of menstruation

This is the most common sign of pregnancy that most people notice. As long as a woman is of childbearing age and has normal menstruation, she may be pregnant if she has sexual intercourse for more than two weeks after the normal menstrual period. But not having your period does not necessarily mean you are pregnant. There are many reasons why your period may not come, such as poor ovarian function, abnormal hormone secretion, busy work, exam stress, etc., all of which can cause your period to be late. Therefore, it is best to get a doctor's diagnosis, which is the safest.

5. Changes in skin color

In the early stages of pregnancy, you may experience skin pigmentation or stretch marks on the abdominal wall, which will become more obvious in the later stages of pregnancy.

6. Frequent and urgent urination

During the third month of pregnancy, the bladder is compressed by the growing uterus, causing its capacity to decrease, resulting in frequent and urgent urination.
