Long and thin stools are an abnormal condition. This problem is usually caused by problems in the anus or rectum. For example, anal foreign bodies such as hemorrhoids and anal fistulas, enlarged anal papillae, anorectal tumors, rectal polyps, etc. can all cause long and thin stools when defecating. Therefore, when facing the problem of long and thin stools, people must not take it lightly, but go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible to alleviate the condition. 1. Anal foreign body causes Among them, anal diseases such as hemorrhoids, internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids, mixed hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, and perianal abscesses bring obvious discomfort to patients due to anal foreign bodies. When there are foreign bodies in the anus, the foreign bodies block the anus, making it difficult for patients to defecate, or the feces become thinner and smaller due to the pressure of foreign bodies, causing abnormal bowel movements. 2. Causes of hemorrhoidal diseases We often hear the saying, "Nine out of ten people have hemorrhoids," which shows how common hemorrhoids are. However, many people don't know that hemorrhoids can also cause their stools to become thinner. If you find that your stools have become thinner, you should be careful whether it is caused by hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are caused by varicose veins and fibrous tissue hyperplasia in the mucosa of the anal canal and lower rectum. Especially for internal hemorrhoids, the patient has a protrusion or a ring-shaped protrusion in the anus. The protrusion occupies the area of the anal canal, and the stool passing through it is compressed and becomes thinner, and there is often blood on the surface of the beginning and end. 3. Hypertrophy of anal nipples Anal papillary hypertrophy, also known as anal papilloma, is a common benign tumor of the anorectum caused by the enlargement and hardening of the anal papilla due to long-term stimulation from feces and chronic inflammation. The anal papillae become enlarged and become tumors, which often block the anus. The patient has difficulty defecating or the stool becomes thinner due to pressure and the stool is not completely defecate. 4. Anorectal Tumors Early symptoms of colorectal cancer include increased frequency of bowel movements, unformed or loose stools, and blood and mucus in the stools. Sometimes constipation or diarrhea alternates with constipation, and the stool becomes thinner. Abdominal pain, varying in severity, usually dull pain or bloating. When tumor necrosis or secondary infection occurs, patients often have fever. 5. Rectal polyps It refers to the raised lesions on the surface of the rectal mucosa that protrude into the intestinal cavity, including adenomas, inflammatory polyps and polyposis. From a pathological point of view, the contents vary, some are benign tumors, and some are the consequences of inflammatory hyperplasia. Hematochezia is fresh blood that covers the surface of the stool without mixing with it. The pedunculated polyps at the lower end of the rectum may protrude out of the anus during defecation. When polyps are combined with ulcer infection, there may be mucus, blood in the stool and a feeling of tenesmus. |
