Side effects of analgesia

An IUD can help us avoid some unnecessary troubles in our lives. Its contraceptive effect is very good, but it does not mean that it can completely prevent pregnancy. It is still possible to get pregnant after using an IUD. Moreover, an IUD will bring certain side effects to our body. Many people may not know this. So what are the side effects of an IUD?

Lower abdominal pain or backache: After insertion, the intrauterine device can easily cause uterine contractions, which can lead to mild lower abdominal pain or backache.

Increased vaginal discharge: This is one of the negative side effects of having an IUD inserted. If an intrauterine device with a tail thread is used, it can cause a significant increase in cervical secretions. Over time, the endometrial tissue adapts. If the amount of vaginal discharge increases and you experience symptoms such as fever, lower abdominal pain, etc., you need to seek medical attention immediately.

Minor bleeding: The side effects of IUD insertion mainly occur 3-4 days after insertion, because the intrauterine device can scratch the cervical canal lining and cause bleeding while stimulating uterine contraction. If the bleeding is not excessive, no treatment is necessary and the condition will generally return to normal after a week.

Increased menstrual flow: This side effect mainly occurs in the first three months after the IUD is inserted. Due to the drastic change in the body's balance, women's menstrual cycle will be prolonged or irregular spotting will occur.

Infection: This is the most criticized disadvantage of IUD insertion. In order to prevent infection, doctors will strictly disinfect the female vulva, vagina, endometrium and other parts when inserting an IUD to avoid infection. If a woman has a history of genital tract inflammation, or has sex too early or too frequently after having an IUD inserted, infection may occur.

Causes discomfort to the male partner: This situation mainly occurs when the tail thread of the intrauterine contraceptive device used is too hard or too long. This situation can cause pain to the man during intercourse, or even cause him to be stabbed. You can ask a doctor to cut the tail thread to an appropriate length.

There are many side effects of IUD insertion, but the above are all normal side effects. The discomfort symptoms will decrease or disappear after the body adapts. If the symptoms are severe, you can go to the hospital for examination and treatment. If the treatment is ineffective, the intrauterine device can be removed and other methods of contraception can be used instead.
