Dizziness in early pregnancy

Dizziness in early pregnancy

People often feel very weak when they are pregnant. This is because the baby needs to absorb a lot of nutrients, which may lead to insufficient nutrition for the pregnant woman. Of course, anemia may also occur. In the early stages of pregnancy, pregnant women may also experience nausea and vomiting. Let’s take a look at what causes dizziness in early pregnancy.

Causes of dizziness

1. Early pregnancy reaction

In the early stages of pregnancy, due to the increase in the level of human chorionic gonadotropin in the body, different physiological reactions will occur. In addition to the common nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, and fatigue, dizziness may also occur.

This symptom can be relieved by taking more rest, listening to music, diverting attention, etc., and will disappear as the early pregnancy reaction disappears.

2. Anemia

After pregnancy, in order to meet the needs of the fetus, blood volume gradually increases and the blood becomes relatively diluted. Physiological anemia may occur at 30-32 weeks. Anemia is likely to occur if you are picky about food and do not pay attention to iron intake.

Eat more protein foods. In addition to foods such as fish, meat, eggs, milk, beans, etc., pay attention to supplementing iron-rich foods and eat more whole grains such as red beans, adzuki beans, etc.

3. Hypoglycemia

The fetus is growing at an astonishing rate every day, constantly obtaining nutrients from the mother's body. If you have an irregular diet, with one meal hungry and the next full, you will experience hunger-induced hypoglycemia, which can cause dizziness or even fainting.

Pay attention to eating small meals frequently, and add some snacks, milk, eggs, nuts, etc. between each meal.

4. Cervical spondylosis

The main symptoms are soreness in the head, neck, shoulders, back, arms, stiff neck, and limited movement. Mild cases are accompanied by dizziness, severe cases are accompanied by nausea and vomiting, and bedridden. A few may experience vertigo and fall, which is caused by insufficient blood supply to the vertebral artery.

When you experience dizziness, don't immediately conclude that you have cervical spondylosis. Go to the hospital and ask a doctor to diagnose whether the dizziness is caused by cervical spondylosis or other reasons.

5. Hypoxia

After pregnancy, pregnant women are very sensitive to lack of oxygen. When in a low-oxygen environment, they will feel dizzy and short of breath. Frequent fetal movements in the abdomen indicate that the fetus is also lacking oxygen

It is not recommended to go to a crowded, noisy environment with poor air circulation. Such as KTV, crowded supermarkets, large concerts, etc.

6. Supine Hypotension Syndrome

In the late stages of pregnancy, as the uterus enlarges, when the woman lies on her back or sits lying down, the heavy uterus presses on the inferior vena cava behind her, and blood in the lower half of the body cannot return to the heart. The amount of blood returned to the heart drops sharply, and the cardiac output decreases, resulting in a decrease in the amount of blood in the heart and brain, causing dizziness, chest tightness and other discomforts.

Try to avoid lying flat on your back after the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, and lie on your left side is best

Precautions

Don't stay in one posture for too long

Be slow when getting up from lying or sitting

If you feel dizzy, you should rest more and raise your legs slightly.
