In daily life, sometimes some pregnant women do not pay enough attention to their physical condition and may catch a cold or have a fever. It is not certain whether you can breastfeed your baby when you have a fever. You can breastfeed your baby when you have a fever, but it is recommended to take medicine after breastfeeding your baby. It is recommended not to breastfeed your baby within a short period of time after taking medicine to avoid harm to the baby caused by the medicine. It is also not recommended for mothers to take highly irritating medicines for fear of causing bad effects on the baby. You can breastfeed if you have a low fever during breastfeeding, but it is recommended to stop if the fever exceeds 37.7℃. If it is a low fever, try to take medicine after breastfeeding. People with mild cold symptoms do not need special treatment and can heal on their own. If there are more severe symptoms such as cough and fever, medication should be taken under the guidance of a doctor. Generally, antiviral oral liquid, isatis root granules, penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics can be used for treatment. Wear a mask when breastfeeding; breastfeed before taking the medicine, and stop breastfeeding within 4-6 hours after taking the medicine to avoid the peak drug concentration in the blood. When the baby has a fever and the body temperature is ≥38℃, breastfeeding should be temporarily stopped, and milking should be performed more than 3 times a day to maintain the lactation state of the breasts. Keep the baby's room well ventilated to reduce the concentration of influenza virus in the air; if necessary, let the baby leave the bedroom temporarily, boil 1-2 pounds of vinegar with water in a 1:1 ratio, and seal and fumigate the room for 4-6 hours. What to do if you have a fever during breastfeeding When a breastfeeding mother develops fever. The body temperature should be measured first. If it is a low fever, you do not need to stop breastfeeding, and it is best to use diet therapy to reduce the fever. However, if it is a high fever, it is best to stop breastfeeding and resume breastfeeding after the illness is cured. 1. If a breastfeeding mother has a fever (measured body temperature is between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius), she should rest in bed at home and ensure adequate sleep time to facilitate physical recovery; eat more nutritious liquid foods such as milk, porridge, noodles, etc., eat small meals frequently, and avoid eating eggs when having a high fever; at the same time, drink more warm boiled water, and the daily drinking water intake should be no less than 500 ml. Breastfeeding can be suspended for 1 to 2 days during a high fever. During the period of cessation of feeding, breast milk should be expressed frequently to ensure that breastfeeding can be continued in the future. 2. If a breastfeeding mother has a low fever, do not reduce the fever immediately, because a certain degree of fever (body temperature below 38.5℃) has a protective effect on the body. Common antipyretic dietary therapies are as follows: Glutinous rice and scallion porridge: Wash 100 grams of glutinous rice, add appropriate amount of water to cook porridge. When it is almost cooked, add a few scallions and cook until cooked. Eat on an empty stomach. Pear, date and egg soup: Wash and cut a pear into pieces, add appropriate amounts of red dates, ginger and rock sugar, then add water and boil, finally beat an egg. Take once in the morning and evening, and rest after taking. Cabbage and radish soup: 250 grams of cabbage heart, 60 grams of white radish, add appropriate amount of water, add about 15 grams of brown sugar after frying, drink the soup and eat the vegetables while it is hot. Tangerine peel, ginger and brown sugar tea: Cut 10 grams of tangerine peel and ginger into thin strips, add water and boil until half a bowl remains. Add appropriate amount of brown sugar when taking it and drink it while hot. Cover yourself with a blanket and sleep after taking it, which will help reduce fever and relieve headaches. How to reduce fever during breastfeeding In addition to drug treatment, sick mothers can use the following methods to quickly reduce fever: 1. Take a cold water bath. Use cold water to wash your face every day. Use your hands to scoop up a handful of water to wash your nostrils. Gently inhale a little water through your nostrils (be careful not to inhale too deeply to avoid choking) and then blow it out. Repeat this process many times. 2. Massage the nasal groove. Rub your hands together, and after your palms are warm, massage the Yingxiang point (located inside the nasal groove, horizontally at the midpoint of the outer edge of the nose) more than ten times. This can prevent fever and relieve nasal congestion symptoms after fever. 3. Cook ginger with cola. Peel and chop 20 to 30 grams of fresh ginger, put it into a large bottle of Coca-Cola, boil it in an aluminum pot, and drink it while it is hot after it cools down a little. It is very effective in preventing and treating influenza. 4. Breathe the steam. When you first have a fever, pour boiling water into a cup and take deep breaths into the hot steam until the water in the cup cools down. Do this several times a day to relieve nasal congestion symptoms. 5. Blow hot air on your face. When a fever first occurs, you can use a hair dryer to blow hot air at your temples for 3 to 5 minutes, several times a day, to reduce symptoms and speed up recovery. 6. Soak your feet in hot water. Soak your feet in relatively hot water (the temperature should be unbearable) for 15 minutes every night. Make sure the water level covers your feet and your feet turn red after soaking to prevent fever. 7. Rinse your mouth with salt water. Rinse your mouth with light salt water every morning, evening and after meals to remove oral bacteria. When influenza is prevalent, you should pay more attention to gargling with salt water. At this time, it will be more effective if you tilt your head back and gargle so that the salt water can fully rinse the throat. 8. Garlic honey. Mix equal parts of mashed garlic and honey, and take with boiled water, one tablespoon each time, 4 to 6 times a day. It is effective in treating influenza. 9. Mix eggs with sesame oil. Heat one or two ounces of sesame oil, beat in a fresh egg, pour in boiling water and stir well, then drink it while it is hot, once in the morning and once in the evening, and the cough after the fever can be cured in 2 to 3 days. 10. Rub your body with white wine. Dip smooth hard objects such as copper coins in white wine, and gently scrape the front and back chest, Quchi and Quwo of lower limbs until the skin turns red and hot. Then drink a bowl of hot ginger and sugar water. After about 15 minutes, you will sweat profusely. After sweating, the whole body feels relaxed and comfortable. At this time, be careful to avoid cold and fever, and the fever will heal quickly. |
