Why does the stomach protrude during pregnancy?

The fetal position after pregnancy is very important. Some people find that their stomachs are particularly protruding after pregnancy, which may be caused by malposition of the fetus. The normal fetal position should be cephalic position, that is, the fetus maintains the position of head down and buttocks up, which is also one of the prerequisites for normal delivery. Abnormal fetal positions generally include breech presentation, occiput posterior presentation, transverse presentation, facial presentation, and frontal presentation. Among them, breech presentation is the most common, while transverse presentation is very harmful. Pregnant women can try to reverse an abnormal fetal position by doing exercises.

1. Causes of malposition of the fetus

1. Too much or too little amniotic fluid: Too much amniotic fluid causes the fetus to move too far, resulting in a loose position; too little amniotic fluid causes the fetus to move too far, unable to move normally, which can cause an abnormal fetal position.

2. Short umbilical cord: If the umbilical cord is too short, it cannot provide enough nutrients to the fetus, resulting in fetal growth retardation or slow fetal growth. It will also cause the baby to have a larger space to move in the uterus, resulting in dislocation.

3. Maternal pelvic placenta or fetus: Excessive placenta previa and pelvic stenosis. These problems will hinder the fetal position and squeeze the fetus, causing dislocation.

4. Relaxation of the abdominal wall in pregnant women: Relaxation of the abdominal wall will weaken the support of the ABS to the uterus, causing dislocation.

5. Fetal malformation or uterine malformation or uterine malformation Fetal malformation will affect the space of the uterine cavity, leading to a series of activities, changes in the fetus, and causing dislocation.

6. If there is uterine disease: uterine fibroids or other diseases can also affect the position of the fetus in the uterine cavity, causing dislocation.

7. Multiple births will cause each fetus to have a very small range of movement. If it is not due to too little amniotic fluid and the fetus is not moving normally, it will cause an abnormal fetal position.

2. Fetal position determination method

In the late pregnancy, in addition to professional examinations, you can also determine the baby's fetal position through the following methods.

1. Touch the bulge of the abdomen

Expectant mothers can gently feel the lower abdomen, and perhaps you can tell the position of his head and buttocks. Generally speaking, the baby's head is hard and round, and it feels like it is floating in the amniotic fluid, while the fetal buttocks are relatively soft and irregular.

2. Check your body shape

The shape of the abdominal bulge often reflects the fetal position. The upward head position will make the expectant mother's bulge appear higher; and the characteristic of the breech position is reflected in the presence of a saucer-shaped dimple in the middle of the mother's stomach.

3. How to correct fetal position

Chest-knee position

This method is suitable for pregnancy after 30 weeks, when the fetal position is still breech or transverse. The expectant mother kneels on the bed with her knees slightly apart and bent into right angles. Her chest and shoulders are pressed against the bed. Her head is tilted to one side and her hands are placed on both sides of her head, forming a posture with her hips high and her head low. The greater the height difference between the two, the better, so that the fetal head can be placed on the mother's diaphragm, and the fetal position can be corrected with the help of the change in the center of gravity. Do it twice a day, 15-20 minutes each time. Empty your bladder and loosen your belt before doing it. Check again after 1 week.
