Causes of Nipple Discharge

Nipple discharge is a normal physiological discharge that occurs during pregnancy, lactation or after weaning. It is mostly caused by increased hormones in the body during pregnancy and postpartum. Treatment of nipple discharge

2. Pathological discharge refers to nipple discharge during non-pregnancy and non-lactation periods. Based on the nature of the discharge, cytological examination, breast duct angiography, etc., it is determined whether the discharge is caused by a tumor, and then specific treatment is given.

If the discharge is not caused by tumor, it may be caused by mammary duct ectasia, mammary cystic hyperplasia, etc. The former mammary duct ectasia can be treated with medication or surgery, and the latter mammary cystic hyperplasia can be treated with traditional Chinese medicine, medication or surgery.

If it is tumor discharge, it is often caused by intraductal papilloma or intraductal papillary carcinoma. The former is treated with local segmental resection, while the latter is treated with radical mastectomy.
