What to do if you have a urinary tract infection during a cesarean section

Some women will suffer from urinary tract infection after giving birth. At this time, the mother will feel severe pain in her lower body, especially when urinating. Because mothers need to breastfeed, caution must be exercised when using medication. People with urinary tract infections may experience fever, fear of cold, abdominal pain, and bone pain. In order to get rid of the torture of this disease as soon as possible, the mother must take effective treatment as soon as possible.

Both acute and chronic infections require clearing away heat

The main symptoms of acute urinary tract infection are frequent urination, urgency, pain, burning sensation during urination, and residual urine, which are mostly related to dampness and heat. Therefore, its treatment should focus on clearing heat, promoting dampness, detoxifying and relieving stranguria. If there is only frequent urination and incomplete urination, but no pain when urinating and burning sensation in the urethra, it is mostly a chronic urinary tract infection, which is mostly caused by kidney deficiency. Therefore, tonifying Qi and kidney, while clearing away heat, is the key to treatment.

In fact, whether it is acute urinary tract infection or chronic urinary tract infection, dampness and heat are the pathogenic factors throughout the whole process, and the deficiency of both qi and yin aggravates the condition due to repeated attacks. The kidney and bladder are an internal organ and a bowel movement, and are the main sites of disease. When damp-heat evil toxins accumulate in the internal organs, the disease becomes stranguria. Therefore, ancient doctors had the saying that "there are five types of stranguria, all of which are related to heat, and the heat is in the lower part of the body."

Unlike Western medicine treatment of urinary tract infection, Chinese medicine treatment does not use sterilization as a means, but mainly achieves the purpose of curing the disease by clearing away dampness and heat. Although Chinese medicine takes longer to take effect than Western medicine, it has the advantages of long-lasting effects, few side effects and no drug resistance. It uses traditional Chinese medicine to not only inhibit pathogenic microorganisms, but also enhance the body's local or systemic immunity, regulate and change the local internal environment of the urinary tract mucosa, and indirectly promote the body's own recovery and alleviate the condition. In addition, the use of diuretic Chinese medicine is also one of the mechanisms for treating urinary tract infections. The increase in urine volume helps to improve the flushing effect of the urethra, which can help reduce the residence time of microorganisms in the human body, thereby further reducing the chance of urinary tract infection.

The author of repeated episodes has good results with Chinese medicine

However, although Chinese medicine has many benefits in treating urinary tract infections, its indications should also be considered. Generally speaking, Chinese medicine is more effective for milder nonspecific infections, but less effective for bacterial infections that must be treated with antibiotics. Complicated urinary tract infections of unknown etiology are more suitable for treatment with traditional Chinese medicine, while if the type of bacterial infection has been determined, antibiotics are most likely to achieve the desired effect.

In addition, patients whose symptoms recur after using antibiotics are also areas where Chinese medicine can be of great help. Since the cause of urinary tract infection is dampness and heat, the treatment should focus on clearing heat and promoting dampness. For example, Huangbai is a bitter and cold medicine that dries dampness; Plantago seed is sweet and cold and can promote diuresis without damaging the yin; Tongcao can promote diuresis and relieve stranguria, and conduct heat downward; Bianxu can clear dampness and heat in the lower abdomen, promote diuresis and relieve stranguria. These are all good medicines for urinary tract infections.
